Eeewww. I think my 3 year old son has ringworm! He has one perfect, red dime-sized circle on his butt cheek, and it looks just like the pics of ringworm I found on the internet. He only has one spot - does this stuff spread? I have no clue where he could have picked it up! Is there something over the counter I can get to treat this?

Is it raised and has an indentation in the center? It can be treated with an athletes foot cream, look for one that treats that, jock itch and ring worm.

Steph, I used to teach preschool and saw this occasionally. He does need to see a doctor - if it is ringworm,he will prescribe meds and he probably can't go back to school/playgroup/whatever until it dries up.

Yep. It's raised on the edge, and is lighter in the middle. It's a perfect circle.

I think you should donate your brain to science.

we always called the doctor and he called in a prescription, and more than likely he got it from a sandbox at school .....

But he doesn't go to school, and none of my other kids have it. I'm so skeeved out. If I wake up with circles all over me tomorrow I'm gonna freak. :crazy2:

Back when I worked in our programs I got two, one on my arm and one on my stomach. I think I got the stomach one because of the cafeteria tables, the edge hit me just where I got it. I put on the cream and then put a bandage over them. I had an alergic reaction to the band-aid on my stomach where the adhesive part was. :scared:

Steph, you're sure it's not a lyme disease rash? I know that's a circular rash, also. I've never had either, so I can't compare.
