The reason I asked about nekkid men was I went to the gym yesterday and after my workout I went into the locker room to shower and change. I walk in and there stands a woman with a towel wrapped around her head and her waist and the girls just hanging in the wind. I was wondering if this was exclusive to woman or if men were like that too.

Maybe she was proud of the progress she's made and wanted to show off the girls to everyone. I'm not big on getting naked in front of strangers, it has severely limited my career choices :rotfl: .

sorry to hear that becky

if its any consolation, I was unloading a big tool box, 2ft deep X 2ft wide X 4 ft long, kind of like a big box, and it slipped and my thumb was caught between the tool box and the bed of the truck, it tore a spot out of my thumb nail about an 1/8" long X 1/16" wide, made me sick at my stomach, blood running every where, hurt like hell !! and I had to bend over, I thought I was going to toss my lunch !! now I have a pretty blue/black thumb and nail :teeth:

and you where the first person I thought of :rotfl: "now I know how she feels" was the thought running through my head :teeth:

:goodvibes

Now, just imagine having that feeling from the moment you wake up til the minute you fall asleep.

Hope your thumb's ok, though.

Except she feels that way 24/7! ;) I can't even imagine! Hopefully it will end soon, Becky.

I should probably shower so I can go to this dentist consult. My DH is making me go without him so that he can second guess whatever I decide.

To me she handled that all wrong. It is one thing to fire someone for the reason you said but this is something beyond your control. If it was me I know my boss would have sent me home and told me not to worry about coming in until I feel up to it. We have had women go out for maternity reason, bed rest, etc and we didn't "fire" them, they were left on payroll. She should have had you go on temporary disability.

See, I thought this too.

But, I guess I wasn't worth it since I was part-time and new.

my thumb is just sore :rotfl: but I really do hope you get to feeling better soon and sorry about the job :sad2:

SO, I am looking up pregnancy discrimination laws at the US Dept. Of Labor website, as well as with the EEOC.

I think I am going to at least contact the EEOC and see if the bank was wrong. Here's what I found on their website:

"If an employee is temporarily unable to perform her job due to pregnancy, the employer must treat her the same as any other temporarily disabled employee. For example, if the employer allows temporarily disabled employees to modify tasks, perfrom alternative assignments or take disability leave or leave without pay, the employer must also allow an employee who is temporarily disabled due to pregnancy to do the same."

The thing is this: I don't think they would have fired me if I were off work due to recieveing chemotherapy treatments or if I had broken my back in an accident. Of course, I don't know that for *sure*, but my gut says that things would have gone a little differently.

Becky, that sucks! They should have put you on disability or something. Keep researching the law. Talk to someone in HR or something. It just seems wrong to me. How long had you worked there?

I only started there in June, so a little over a month. It may very well be that they were within their rights since I hadn't completed 90 days of employment, but from what I'm reading about preg. discrimintation laws, it doesn't matter how long you've been employed.

From the moment that I told them I was pregnant, it seemed like everyone was annoyed. I didn't know I was when I started the job, though- not that it would/should matter, or that it was any of their business.

And there is no HR at the bank. It's a small company.

It still sucks. I wish I could do something for you.

Becky, I am so sorry what happened to you. But I am going to be completely honest. Is Illinois a right-to-work state? If so, you can be fired at any time for any reason. You will have a terrific battle trying to prove the pregnancy discrimination.

It was sucky what they did, and it upsets me, but I don't believe it's a battle that you can win or get any relief from. Sorry. :(

It may be a blessing in disguise. :sunny: Who wants to work for a company who dismisses an employee like that??!??!! :furious:

Missy- I can kind of understand why they closed the thread after that person posted about how to get back at someone. :scared1: And some of the stuff he did in college. :confused3

Yes, once I saw some of that person's stuff, I knew that thread's days were numbered!

Boy that really stinks! I would definately follow up and see if they were within their legal rights to fire you like that. I'm thinking no.

nope not me, not even when I was in the barracks in the army, I would at least put a towel around my waiste, but there is always someone who walks around with the boys hanging out, and most of them that do that have the attitude but lack the stuff to strut :rotfl2:

All three of these posts literally made me LOL! Regarding the lady at the gym, there is a woman at the Y I go to. She is old and I gotta tell ya that the girls are not very perky anymore. She struts around nekkid as a jay bird. No towel even around the waste! Like to fix her hair and make up and the whole deal. The fact that she is old in another part of the whole thing that makes me just too darn surprised. My mom would have croaked at the idea!!

Becky, that is really a bummer. Glad you are learning how to crochet though and I bet it will be a relief not worrying about managing to get into work, but I would imagine it might cause some financial stress too. I hope it all works out for the best.

Good thing I haven't heard that commercial. Can you imagine me laughing out loud and needing to explain to my family why I'm laughing? :rotfl2:

:rotfl: DH was looking over my shoulder when the pic of Nicolas Cage got posted. Oh brother, he says, they are encouraging you!! And when we passed by a box of cereal with Capt. Jack on it, DS6 says, "Hey, there is our handsome guy." :rotfl: At least I said I liked him 'cause he was handsome and not 'cause he was hot!!

I am playing a bit of hooky right now. I have the car I THINK all the way packed for our trip. I am hoping I remembered everything. And as DH says, there is a Target up there. We are only going about two hours north of us. Don't bother telling me to have fun, but you could wish me luck. My goal for the weekend is always to survive with my sanity intact!!

DM3, Good luck this weekend!!! :rotfl2: Remind me where you are going.

We got back from the oral surgeon consult. He seems like a nice guy and we made the appt for after our vacation. Alyssa isn't going with us, but we need to be here when she has it done. She doesn't have to decide beforehand on the general vs local, but I think she'll go with the general. Whatever makes her more comforable, I suppose. And the insurance seems to pay for it.

Did you see his web site?? :stir:

Merle, I once had a guest membership to a gym where everyone walked around the locker room naked. They were chatting naked, drying their hair naked, painting their toes naked...

I went once and never went back. I like to cover my non-firm parts and I didn't want to be the only one in a towel.

Becky, I'm sorry about your job :grouphug:. What they did to you really wasn't right.
