Our Chinese places still deliver. Dominos and Papa Johns are my two least favorite pizza places.

We totally surprised Ben with the surprise party. He went to the basement to "play Halo with Ben" and about 16 or so kids jumped out and yelled "SURPRISE!!!". I think he was ready to start crying he was so happy. He's a good kid, though, and deserves it.

I guess at some point I should retrieve Jake from the basement, but he's having fun with the big kids.

Paige, that's awful that the pizza guy couldn't add 30 cents. 4's, when Alyssa was working at Ledo's she was amazed at how one girl could not make change.

He was 17yo on Tuesday and Zach was 14yo yesterday. Jake will turn 8yo 12/19 and Alyssa will turn 20yo 5 days later, my Christmas Eve baby.

Paige- they hired a new girl to cashier at school and she doesn't know how to count back change. I tried to teach her but she has no clue. It's $2.25, take 3 quarters (75 cents) makes $3.00, A dollar makes $4.00, another makes $5.00. A $5.00 makes $10.00 and a $10.00 makes $20.00. Nope, just doesn't get it. The kids stand there with their mouth open in shock, no joke.
She wants to use a calculator to figure the change. She was told no, learn to count back. Sad these days that kids don't even know basic math.

I have a confession to make I can't count back change that way. I was taught, I totally get the concept. But my brain just can't wrap itself around it. I get confused and lost and then my mouth gapes open and I start to drool. Simple things I can do, if it is just quarters and dollars. But anything else and I am just . I have practiced by myself, and in my head at the store, and my brain just isn't wired for that.

It is really embarrassing. I make jokes and excuses when people want me to take money at the concession stands or garage sales etc.... so I don't have to do it. Hell, when I worked concessions at the Swim Meet last year I was the one with the GREAT idea that we should designate one person (not it!) as the money taker and the rest of us just serve food--we still do it that way now! They all thought I was an organizational genius. NOPE! Just a math idiot trying to hide my math illiteracy.

Like I said, I understand the concept, I see how it works, I just can't do it. I get lost and confused. Me and numbers are never a good combination to begin with. The difference between me and that girl at your work is that I KNOW I shouldn't be working with money so I avoid it all costs! (pun intended!)

Will you still love me Paige? I can add the extra 30 cents up in my head. Just don't ask me to count back the change for you if you pay with a $50.00 bill.

Busy day in my house, but I decided to declare a time out and made my family go to the playground for an hour and a half for some quality time. It was worth getting behind on the chores. We need to do that more often.

Of course I love all my kids, but Ben is really difficult to explain. As ditzy and ADD as what he is, he's also incredibly sweet, loving, and smart. He's had more to deal with than most kids and has handled it better than most people would have. He really is an inspiration, except when I'm ready to wring his neck.
