M is really into her play cellphones..she only has about 8 of them. Anyway last night she was wanting something and I told her she couldnt have it. So she said " Im calling the cops on you" She picked up her fake cellp phone (thats what she calls it) and calls the cops. She tells them " Hey cops I need you to come get my mama, shes being mean to me" OMG I hope no one ever teaches her 911 .

At the middle school where J goes they have the grades divided into teams. Her team is the Mustangs. It encompasses the honors kids, and the special needs ones. So J asked why they were grouping them all together and I told her because even the honors program is considered special ed.

Sure, I tell people so they can understand gifted children, 70-139 is normal IQ, a huge range, so a 140 IQ child is as far from the middle of norm as a 69 IQ child who is considered mentally handicapped. Just to put it in perspective. Having a much higher abilitiy in one or more areas moves them far from the norm and DOES make them different, and presents other difficulties for them.

Thing 2 told the Mustang patrol (5th graders that help watch the halls before/after school) that they couldn't touch him and he could do what he wants since his mom works here. That boy is going to make me gray before my time.

I told my kids they better not try that crap! Their dad is the police sergeant in the rinky dink village where they go to school & play sports, etc.

Now you have to let him get in a bit of trouble with them and NOT bail him out.

I get what you are saying Paige. So many of the kids with high IQ's lack some social skills or even coping abilities. J is pretty well rounded but she has a few issues too. Nothing thats going to hold her back from a fulfilling life. But things she has been slow to grow out of.

Yeah, I don't do that. I make them face their own music. Once, the cops came to the door to speak to Thing 1 and the boy we had staying with us for a while, you guys remember him? Anyway, I called them out and had them talk to the police. Then we went down to this house under construction that this man had called the police from and I had them talk to him. He claimed he'd seen them run from the property and then he'd seen it vandalized so they did it. They said they were in the back yard of it looking for fossils. This area used to be a shoreline and when they dig it up there are many fossils. The back yard had not been sodded yet or fenced. Anyway, the house was locked up tight. I believed my boys, but I still had them talk to everyone.

I can't believe my girls are still sleeping. I think I better wake them up or naptime will be a no-go.

Yes? Okay, I'll tell you. I woke up at 5:30 and CLEANED. Yep, ME. I cleaned Thing 2's room before work. What a topsy turvy day.

didn't sleep well last night, I'm still home, I'm not sure if and when I'll go to work today. Right now I'm just sort of hanging in there.
