Hi everyone! Plumeria here! I am 25 (almost 26) years old, about 5'3'', and 210 (yikes!!) pounds. That last part needs to change...

I was skinny growing up, until high school. From there I varied from a size 12 to a size 16. In 2004, I got down to about 145 pounds, then went back up from there. Now I'm a size 20 and miserable. My problem is a common one...I love food! I've gone through a lot of stressful stuff in the last five years, and food has been my comfort. I want that to change. My weight loss goal has always been 120 pounds, which is perfectly acceptable, considering my height. But I would settle for 130 or 135. My main concern is to get healthy, and to fit into all the cute clothes I'd love to buy.

This week is the preliminaries...next week is when I want to get started. I am trying to map out what I want to eat, and what my exercise plan should be. I am thinking walking and swimming, since I have a pool.

But anyway, I wanted to introduce myself, and I hope some of you would like to follow me on my journey. I hope it will be a successful one!:tinker:

Hi everyone, so today is my first day of eating right. It's going to be a long journey, but I am trying to think of it as one week at a time. I will have one day per week that I can eat whatever I want (within reason). That day will be Saturday. Some weeks it might be Sunday, depending on what I'm doing.

So I got on the scale a few days ago and it read..........215!! OUCH:sad2: My weight loss goal will be 2 pounds per week. That is the average and most healthy way to do it, in my humble opinion. Saturday morning will be my weigh-in time each week. :cheer2:

Okay, without further ado, here is what I've had so far today:

Breakfast:
Glass of Silk chocolate soy milk
One Mini bagel

Snack:
100 calorie pack yogurt

Lunch:
Pepperoni pizza Lean Pocket
Cucumbers
Salad with mixed greens, fresh cilantro, onions, red bell peppers, shredded colby jack cheese, a dash of fake bacon bits, and sesame seeds.
Cranberry juice (100% juice - no sugar added)

Snack:
Mott's applesauce (no sugar added)
3 Carr's whole wheat crackers

Dinner:
Ground beef patty w/slice of American cheese
Baked potato w/fake bacon bits and sour cream
Raspberries w/Cool Whip

Snack:
A handful of Lucky Charms

I feel pretty good about day one. I didn't really need to have the Lucky Charms, but I was preparing my lunch for tomorrow and I couldn't resist. But at least it's less than a gram of fat!

Thanks for reading!:hippie:

And good for you! Your picture is adorable, by the way.

And you're absolutely on the right track -- food looks healthy, nutritious, and yummy.

Cheering you on....... :cutie:

Okay, on to Day 2! I totally meant to exercise yesterday evening, but it was Monday, and I never have much motivation to do anything on Monday evening! I am going to try swimming some laps in my pool tonight before American Idol starts.

Breakfast:
Glass of Silk chocolate soy milk
Lucky Charms (no milk)

Snack:
None - wasn't hungry believe it or not.:rotfl:

Lunch:
PB&J sandwich
Cucumbers
Cranberry juice (no sugar added)

Snack:
Banana

Dinner:
Nachos with cheese, ground beef, sour cream, taco sauce, fresh cilantro, and green onions
Margarita (no alcohol)

The nachos I had for dinner were homemade, so I was able to control how much of the ingredients I used. It's Cinco de Mayo! Had to have Mexican food! :)

UGH, feels like it should day 30 by now! I didn't end up going swimming last night because I truly ran out of time. But tonight, there is a very good chance of me swimming before the American Idol results show.:thumbsup2

Does anyone have any ideas for pool exercises, besides the obvious swimming of laps?

I am mad at myself because it's only day 3, and I forgot to drink my soy milk this morning!! I will have to remember to drink it tonight. I really need the calcium. My joints creak like an 80 year old's.

Okay, here's what I've eaten today:

Breakfast:
Lucky Charms (dry, with no milk)
Cranberry juice (no sugar added)

Snack:
100 calorie pack yogurt

Lunch:
Rice with leftover ground beef, taco sauce and about 2 ounces of cheese
Cucumbers
Water

Snack:
Peaches

Dinner:
London Broil - 3 small slices
Two very small baked potatoes with fake bacon bits and sour cream
Corn
Water

Dessert:
Three strawberry wafer cookies
Glass of Silk chocolate soy milk

EXERCISE:
In the pool - swam laps, did jumping jacks, and ran in place

Thanks for reading! Any comments or advice would be much appreciated!:flower3:

Hi Plumeria!

I can't suggest any water-related exercise, since we don't have a pool.

But.......

I'm holding you to exercising today -- if I'm doing it, so are you. :thumbsup2 Okay?

Hope you have a wonderful day!!

Hi Plumeria!

Welcome to WISH journals!!! :welcome: It sounds like you are off to a great start on your healthy living journey. :thumbsup2 Cute picture with Donald, by the way. princess:

As far as water exercises go, you can probably do some of the same types of exercise that you would do on land, but in the water and with a lot less impact on the joints. (think: squats, lunges, e.t.c) Is there anywhere near your home where you can maybe take a water aerobics class for inspiration? Or maybe you can Google water exercises (or something similar) for ideas. :goodvibes

Best WISHes on your journey! :wizard:

Hi there! Thanks for the encouragement! Those are good ideas for exercises. I tried some of those things tonight. I will probably take walks around my neighborhood a few times a week as well.

Have a great night!:wizard:

Hi everyone! On to day 4! I did a little swimming last night, for about 20 minutes. My pool has gotten way too hot, so we had to turn the heater down. I felt like I was trying to exercise in a hottub! Hopefully it will be cooler by tonight. I will try to get in there again, but I am going Mother's Day shopping after work today, and that could take a while!;)

My foodies for the day:

Breakfast:
Glass of Silk Chocolate soy milk
Lucky Charms

Snack:
Yogurt

Lunch:
PB&J Sandwich
Applesauce (no sugar added)

Snack:
None - Work got really busy and I didn't have time.

Dinner:
Macaroni & Cheese
Cucumbers
Cranberry juice (no sugar added)

I am feeling kind of gross because everything I took to eat today is sweet. I need salt!! I am out of cucumbers, so I didn't even have my veggies yet. My mom went to the store this morning and got more fruits and veggies, so I should be all set! I can't wait to weigh myself on Saturday morning! I made a little weight loss chart this morning, and if I can actually lose 2 pounds each week, I will be at my goal weight of 120 by April 2010, which means I will be in the 130s during my trip to WDW! That would be so awesome! I can just picture all the energy I will have...:cool1: I haven't accounted for a weight loss slow-down over the holidays, which realistically will happen. But I am sure by that time, I'll be able to control myself a little better.

Anyway, have a great day everyone! I will update later!:snail:

Two pounds a week sounds totally do-able! :thumbsup2 You CAN do it!:cheer2:

That is so cool that you have a swimming pool.:goodvibes I wish we had one in our backyard, but since we live in Ohio, we'd only be able to use it a few months a year.

Have a great evening!:goodvibes

Thanks! :yay:

Yeah, we have really enjoyed our pool. We can usually swim in it nine months out of the year, which is pretty good! I just need to force myself to exercise in it more, instead of floating around on a raft. LOL

How is the weather in Ohio right now?

TGIF everyone!!:woohoo: My goal is to swim laps and do pool exercises for 30 minutes tonight! I'll be back later to let you know how it goes.:dumbo:

My food today so far:

Breakfast:
Glass of Silk chocolate soy milk
Mini bagel, plain

Snack:
Banana

Lunch:
Mixed greens salad, with cut up London Broil and feta cheese
Yogurt

Snack:
None

Dinner:
Scrambled eggs
Bacon
Hash browns
Cranberry juice (no sugar added)

I cooked everything with that I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray, which is 0 calories and 0 grams of fat. It's very buttery tasting. I highly recommend it! You can use it with so many things. For example, I used it instead of butter last night in the macaroni & cheese, and it tasted just as good, but with no calories or fat added.

I didn't get a chance to exercise tonight, but I definately plan on it tomorrow. Maybe even a walk too! Anyway, have a great weekend everybody! Tomorrow morning is the first big weigh in! I have very high hopes! :)

Today, it's kind of cloudy and rainy. :( At least it's not snowing though!

Have a great weekend!:goodvibes

Tell the rain to come down to Florida. We desperately need it!:rotfl2:

Thanks! You have a great weekend too!

I'll send you some rain -- today is the first sunny day in about 2 weeks. And the weather report says we're expecting more thunder showers later on.

Congrats on your good week!

Ugh, that doesn't sound fun! Well, we will gladly take the rain off your hands. I'm sure poor Santa Barbara, CA would too. :sad2:

Thanks! Have a great weekend!:wizard:
