Please tell me this isn't so!

I'm currently in the process of DVC purchase. (closing soon!) But I was looking through member benefits and saw this:

Located in the Imagination! Pavilion, this convenient location is open through 2021 as part of Membership Magic.

So the lounge is being closed at the end of 2021? I'm so sad! Say it isn't so!

As above, the Epcot DVC lounge is on a year to year lease to DVD. It opened in 2016 as a temporary perk to celebrate DVC’s 25th anniversary. Whenever DVD decides it’s not helping enough to sell direct contracts, or Disney decides it has another use for the space, it will close.

I see you said closing soon, & since Direct purchases have been same or next day, I just want to make sure you know current resales are not eligible for Lounge admission.
Hopefully that is not the case, else i am sorry to be the bearer of bad news :)

I hope your expectations aren't too high for the lounge. Pre-COVID, there was a soda machine. I didn't pay attention to whether there was coffee. Someone supposedly came around periodically with a cart of packaged snacks; I think it was gummie bears and something else, but they never came around when I was there. Other than that, it's a place to sit. That's about it.

Agreed on tempering expectations with the Epcot lounge. The soda machine was a mix your own flavor type, snack cart with prepackaged stuff (like the snack size that can be bought in bulk from Costco), but it is a nice place to stop and cool off. By no stretch of the imagination is it a place we would go out of our way to visit.

We have not visited the lounge the last 2 times there. It is OK I guess but not something to miss on my opinion. The lack of restrooms with small ones in tow is a killer for us. It to us is just not that special. After one visit to see what it was all about and 1 and done for us....ºoº

I also remember bags of potato chips and such on the cart.

For me, the most interesting thing about the lounge is that it's a time capsule. The décor feels like a throwback to the 1980s view of what the future would look like!

They still have soda and snacks. They just have a CM ask what you want and hand them to you.

It’s worth about twenty minutes once a trip. Getting to the restrooms is a total PITA and it definitely could use a refresh.

For me, I'd just like a spot to grab a pop, plug in and re-charge (both body and phone!)

I agree that it's not really a big deal at all. Sometimes we do it...."Just because we can" if that makes sense.:earsboy:

I agree, no big loss.

LOL, it's one of my kids favorite places because they feel special. We have dropped in 4 times this year, and each time they have only had exactly one snack available. We have food allergies so at least one of us couldn't have it each time, and the drinks are the machine with all the buttons but they get it for you. It was really difficult to tell what the options are because you are too far back, but it's still "free" drinks.

DVD gets a sweetheart deal on the rent because Disney doesn't have plans for the refurb in that area of real estate yet. This is also undoubtedly why it's the only in-park lounge.

Pretty much this. The only reason DVD has held on to it as long as they have is because Disney lacks vision for that area since they removed the play area from there after the redesign. As soon as Disney has another use for it, the lounge will go away. The reason it only says though the end of 2021 is because Disney never knows when they are going to have a use for that area, so they lease it on a year-by-year basis to DVD.

I like it because it's air conditioned and we can usually get a place to sit. Air Conditioned places to sit are at a premium in the parks. But it's not that far from the land which usually has seating as well.

I do wish Disney would lease an unused area in MK to DVD though. But there are not really any good Air Conditioned unused locations in MK.

Aren’t there a few other lounges that are not in use anymore. I think there are a few. We like to stop in, cool down in the AC have a cold drink and rest for a few minutes out of the sun and heat and it’s nice and quiet. Not too many places to do that at WDW, unless you are eating.
