He is 6' 5" and weighs about 300. I had read reports of the problems last September and had warned him he might not fit but he was crushed even if he wont admit it. Wouldn't you know it they adjusted straps or whatever they did 2 days after we left. Please tell me it will be okay!

Umm..regarding harry potter and fj ride. Thanks

It will be a tight fit if he's able to make it but I probably wouldn't get my hopes up. They haven't installed their modified seating yet. There are test seats outside of the ride, (and on the loading platform before you actually get on) so you can check it out easily without waiting in the queue.

There are also test seats in front of other rides with restrictive seating, like Rip Ride Rockit, Mummy, Hulk, Dr Doom's Fearfall and Dragon Challenge.

I apologize if they installed new seats within the last month but I've kept my ear to the ground and haven't heard anything. We went just a few weeks ago and my husband, who has about the same dimensions, wasn't able to ride. It's not so much weight as far as fitting but shoulder width. He was just too broad to get in, and no modified seating was offered. We've been waiting to go back until a new seating system is installed which, last I heard, wouldn't be for quite awhile since it's a big undertaking and this is the height of tourist season.

There are two seating options right now with one a little wider than the other but for us neither worked. Further modifications are unofficially in the future so there shouldn't be anyone who has this issue.

Either way, try the sample seats and you'll be fine.

I thought it was some of the harnesses that had been modified to acommodate larger proportions, not the actual seat????

I`m confused now!! Have they made wider seats????

Um, are you sure you're talking about Forbidden Journey?

Anywho, yes there IS modified seating. Their are 2 seats on every vehicle that are modified. There is nothing physically different with the seat size, the harness has just been modified to let the ride computer be okay with less clicks, so it doesn't have to be pushed down as far. Outside the ride are test seats with 3 lights: green, yellow and red. When you sit down and pull the harness down, it will let you know which seat you need. Green is any seat, Yellow is modified, red is none.

Above is correct - there are different harness options. By modified seating I was referring to some actual new seats which are in talks for guests who can't fit in the current seats, regardless of harness placement.

Yes I knew the harnesses had been modified, they were like that last year, I was just confused when you wrote the above.

It sounds like you said they had put in wider seats.

Just wanted to clarify, in case anyone read that and expected wider seating to be available and it isn`t.

Since the OP was there last, they have modified the seating. I have not heard anything about modifying the seats further in all the different boards that I read. Focus right now is on making a new queue for those that need lockers at FJ as well as the new replacement ride for Jimmy Neutron and the new Spiderman movie enhancements.

There are two test seats side by side. Hubby tried one and didn't fit, so he was instructed to try the other, which also didn't work. Hubby said the second seemed bigger, but the issue with it not being broad enough to fit his shoulders wasn't solved. I was minding the kids at the time so I don't want to say for sure that one seat is bigger since there seems to be so much debate on the issue. Could be that the second seat just had the modified harness and I misspoke. Don't want to mislead anyone. I tried to press for some details from him but it's kind of a sore subject (not being able to get on wasn't really the highlight of the day.) Significantly wider seats are rumored to be in the works (probably far in the future) but NOT installed yet. Sorry for all the confusion!!! I still say don't worry too much about all the exact measurements till you get there and try the seats outside so you know for sure. At this point it's all speculation as to which individuals can ride since everyone is built differently.

May I ask the source of this rumor?

there are always rumors floating around but you said you have a source.

why don't you share the source with us...

now if this was the motherland we were talking about, i wouldn't be surprised if the source was the bus driver.
