I was interested in purchasing one or some of the Disney sing along videos but wanted to know more about them. While I understand there are words on the screen while the song plays, what else is going on in the movie? I actually do own the sing along video for Disneyland, and I know that shows various park scenes, but I was more interested in the animated features.

I was at the Disney store today and I just love how they have the big tv in the back that runs various Disney snippets and mostly songs with the excerpt of the movie playing. That's the kind of video I would really like to purchase. My DS is 19 mos and is really getting to know the various Disney characters from a collection of board books we have. He is too young to sit through something like "The Little Mermaid", but he did enjoy watching the snippets at the Disney store.

Just wondering if the sing along videos would fit the bill or is there something else out there that is more along the lines of what I'm looking for?

Thanks!

I think the sing alongs are close to what your looking for.. If you are looking for something to tell a brief story of the movie then no.. Its more of music from the movie and enjoyment to the same kind of theme.. I would say get them no matter - what you probably will find yourself singing along to them too.

You might want to check at your local library. Ours has a ton of the sing a long videos.

Hi
My DGD 3 1/2 has quite a few of these. She has the beach, campground, Disneyland Fun and an old one that just says Disney Sing A Long songs. She loves them. She's been watching them since she was about a year, and now sings all the songs a long with them. I think your DS would really like them. They show the different characters interacting with children, so I think it keeps their attention.

My DD has been watching them for a while now. She is almost 2. We have the Beach, Disneyland Fun, Animal Kingdom, and I just got the Halloween one. She loves them and sings the songs. It is really cute. I also like her to watch them so she may become more familiar with the characters in real form instead of cartoon form.

I first got them for my son's first trip to prep him for the characters. Now my DD (15 mos) is enjoying them. She will not sit and watch tv so the only time she does is in the car. Plus, she will only watch the Sing Along dvds. She will move around in her seat like shes dancing, and clap her hands. Since shes too small for headphones, I have to listen to them as well. I dont mind though.

We have the Disneyland Small World, DW Beach Party, the campground, and I just bought a Princess one (mainly cartoon which is ok). I read reviews that the Halloween one wasnt too great. I wish they would make some more!

I'm going to be an elementary school music teacher, and I found 4 Disney Sing-A-Longs at Goodwill for $1 each!

So that might be a good place to start!

Then, if your son finds a favorite, maybe you can pay more to get that one on DVD or something. I watched them when I was younger, I LOVE THEM!!! :rotfl:

After showing them to my daughter 3.5 I laughed and thought - hello - she can not read!!!!!!!! They are still cute. I would look used though.
