We have booked through our DVC for the first week of June the Grand Californian and I would like to know what to expect. I know somewhere someone mentioned about food and that there is a fridge with water bottles and soda. Please if you have stayed there could tyou tell me more about it. It will be DH myself, DS3 and Ds1

Thank you ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo :smickey: :tink:

Here is some info I posted on a trip report I wrote about our October 2005 trip. We loved the GCH concierge lounge! I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask!!

When we arrived, someone from concierge was there to greet us. They took us up to the 6th floor and while I checked in, the cousins and Des were taken to the lounge. Check in was fast. Our room was not ready, but they would call my cell and let me know what room it was when it was ready. Our keys were already activated so we could just go to the room when it was ready! I joined the others in the lounge. Wow, what a spread! There were bagels and cream cheese, fruit, muffins, croissants, cereal, milk, coffee, juice, soda, and water. We grabbed some water and headed to Disneyland!

After spending part of the day in DL, we went back to the lounge to see what was being offered. They had three different kinds of little sandwiches, fruit, cookies (they were delicious), chocolate covered strawberries, cranberry/orange Mickey shaped scones, coffee, tea, soda’s, water, etc… We stayed in there for a bit and at 5 they brought out new goodies! There were veggies, pb&j for the kids, cheese and crackers, and mini quiches. We went back to the room to relax for a while. There was a wedding going on right outside so we watched from our balcony. It was beautiful!

We used our DVC points for non-concierge GC rooms on the DD side a few weeks back. Besides the perks you'll get in concierge mentioned above, make sure you take advantage of the hotel's regular guest offerings. Dave is the activity director and he plans lots of activities to keep kids from 2 to 100 busy. The Monday/Wedensday/Friday 7:25 am power walk through California Adventure is worth getting up for. It is a pretty slow walk if you choose the slower group (Bryan usually takes that group) and pretty invigorating if you walk with Dave. You can also learn to make those nifty facecloth animals among other offerings as one of the activities. Each night you will get a paper in your room with the weather, park hours and upcoming activity offerings for the next two days. The Eureka Springs Health Club has been rebuilt into the Mandala Spa and Health Club and the equipment in the health club part is top notch Cybex equipment in a full upper and lower body circuit plus free weights, steppers, treadmills, and bikes. If you want a quick meal or just a snack at any hour from 6 am to 11 pm, don't miss Whitewater snacks which is tucked back in the resort next to the spa. One last thing to take advantage of is as a guest of GC, you can enter CA early to ride a "preview" of Soaring. There's no limit to how many mornings you can do this as a hotel guest. Also, where you are right next to DD, take advantage of the food and shopping discounts available through either your DVC membership or by using the Disney Visa card. Almost every shop or restaurant takes one or the other for a 10% or 20% discount. Enjoy your trip!!

Seriously? We were there in August and didn't know about this. We loved that ride and will do it a few times in May when we go. We are staying at the GC again too. What time do they open it up for guests to go ride it?

When we were there last month, the park opened at 10 and and if you wanted to do the preview you gathered at the GC DCA entrance at 9:05 am and they took you over to be the first people on the ride at about 9:30 am. You showed them a hotel room key and a park hopper ticket and they let you in as a group and walked you over.
