Okay, my husband and I had an argument the last time we were there on what the quickest way to walk from MGM to BCV would be.

1) Walk along the walk way to Tennis courts and then make a right, walk in front of the Boardwalk Resort go up and down the main set of stairs and out on to the Boadwalk and make a right at the Boadwalk and go around the circle until you reach BCV.

2) Walk along the walk way to main pool and then make a right, walk through Boardwalk Resort and then go out on to the Boadwalk and make a right at the Boadwalk and go around the circle until you reach BCV.

3) Walk along the walk way all the way behind the Boardwalk towards the Swan and Dolphin and make a left when you come out to the Boardwalk and go around the circle in front of the Yacht club until you reach the BCV.

Anyone?

Probably # 1 or #2, if you're going to the Beach Club.

Maybe #3 if you're going to the Yacht Club.

A question worthy of a good spat...(!)

I'd love to be there to walk it off for you, but I did the next best thing - I downloaded the aerial photograph off of TerraServer, and painstakingly measured off the distances (with thread, to trace the curved walkways). I have used both routes 2 and 3 above - needed to know the distance, too.

Measurements were initiated at the same point along the canal to MGM, at the point nearest the tennis courts. The destination point was the end of the sidewalk leading into the Beach Club lobby (near the corner of SAB).

Route #1 - in front of BW... 0.66 miles
Route #2 - through Luna Park pool... 0.65 miles
Route #3 - behind BW, in front of YC... 0.65 miles

Note that if you are heading to the "backway" into BCV - along the patios of the BC, out near the International Gateway path, then #2 is the shortest distance (0.55 miles vs 0.75 miles via #3). It also means that cutting through Luna Park is the shortest distance to walk from MGM to EPCOT.

I would take Route #3 without worrying about what is right or wrong. It would just be the way I would want to go.

Thank you very much Disney Doc! That means that I was right! (I love being right)

Don't you just love this forum? :teeth:

Terry,

We were taught by our "local friends" (who are also p/t CMs there) to go with route #2. We have done that route in the heat of day and on some COLD nights and always beat the boats back at park closing!

This is the way we would go -- and have gone.

Here's a visual aid. The longest route is definitely past YC.

I don't worry about the shortest, but usually walk the boardwalk, just because it's usually enjyoable. :)

Tell your husband you would take YOUR route (shorter) if you were meeting him at MGM but would like to take HIS route (longer) on the romantic walk home ;)

(meanwhile... my wife and I are are in a tizzy about our broken Tivo... grrrr)

I need a vacation

Seems like the difference is so small that the most pleasant walk would be more desirable.

(4) Cut through the pool to the Boardwalk, walk to the end of the Boardwalk pier, swim to the Yacht Club pier, walk to BCV.

Seriously, I agree (2) is quickest, but one false step (if you are not familiar with BWV) and the advantage is lost!

I think some people have way too much time on their hands!! LOL - DH and I had a similar argument on which way was quicker to get back to BCV from miniature golfing! In the end, we decided it didn't matter which way was faster 'cuz we were on vacation! LOL Annmarie

We always take route #3 so we can have maximum time outdoors and it also tends to give the best viewpoints as well

Cheers

Thanks all, looks as if it is a toss up either way. If it were just my husband and myself it wouldn't make much of a difference, but we are usually walking with our 7 and 8 year olds.
