I'm sure this has been asked a hundred times but....

My wife and I are looking for a "couples" trip this coming December. We'd prefer the Caribbean over Europe at this point, but things change and I've always wanted to go to Italy especially, but in any event we are looking for spa-like amenities or seclusion or anything else that isn't crowded with families and children. Anywhere in America will be too close to the kids, as it will leave us vulnerable to a "mayday" call from my babysitting parents! Any and all tips appreciated, even if it isn't first-hand experience.

Thanks

Unfortunately I don't know Europe quite well enough to make those type of recommendations. For The Caribbean, I'd say the Hyatt Sunset Harbour and Galleon in Key West, The Reef and Grand Caymanian in the Cayman's, the Royal's other than VCI in Cancun (yes it's in the Caribbean), the Marriott's, Costa Linda and Playa Linda in Aruba, Westin St. John, Atlantis Harbourside, St James Antigua, The Royal Sea Aquarium Resort - Curacao. And maybe The Royal Island Club la Page and Sunterra Resorts Royal Palm Beach in St. Martin though they'd be iffy. Early Dec will be very Easy, xmas will be extremely hard and you'd already be late putting in your request. I did not cross reference to the DVC list giving II resorts overall but I'm sure most of them are on the list. I also did not list other top resorts only in RCI. My top choice for couples would be the Marriott's Aruba, Royals Cancun, Westin St. John and Club Ortinique (adults only and now part of a Sandal's resort in Jamaica) though it's not in II at all but can sometimes be accessed through the San Francisco Exchange company.

Hats off to Dean - one of the heros of this board and a true walking encyclopedia of all things timeshares! If I studied the timeshare industry for the next 15 years Dean would still have forgotten more then I learned!

He is truelly the Dean of DVC!

Thanks for the praise but there are many people who know more than I do about timesharing. I do feel I know quite a lot about certain aspects and try to be helpful when I can. The way I see this and similar boards is simply people helping each other. We all bring something to the table.

Your right Dean - I personally am good at bringing beer to the table!

In that case, welcome to my table :rotfl:

We are doing the Marriott Aruba on a swap in October and it looks fantastic. We have also swapped to Four Seasons in Portugal, and it was very nice too, if you decide on Europe - it was in the most exclusive area - Quinta do Lago. But, if i lived as close as you Americans do to the Caribbean, I wouldn't come over to Europe for a beach holiday - much lovelier beaches over there.

Anyone ever try The Royal Sea Aquarium Resort in Curacao?
I'm wondering how easy it is to get into during low season (July). Thanks!
