You can help make a boy`s dream come true.
Shane Bernier is a seven year old from Lancaster with big plans for his eighth birthday.
Shane Bernier would like to hear from you.
SHANE BERNIER:"Please send me a card."
Shane is a young cancer patient at CHEO.
He`s seven now. His eighth birthday is May 30th.
And he`d like to set a new record for the number of birthday cards received.
NATHALIE BERNIER:"And every time he sees his name on a card, he`s all happy about it. And he says, it would be great Mom if I could have lots of cards for my birthday."
Shane`s a hit with hospital staff but the birthday card record is really steep.
350 million cards.
That`s right, 350 MILLION.
BUT, that was the number another boy got between his eighth and twenty-second birthdays.
So, the field is pretty much open for Shane
NATHALIE BERNIER:"It just make him happy and when you see him happy, you feel great......You know, it`s been pretty rough and when you see a smile on his face, it means everything so if I could help him do that for his birthday that`s like, kit`s going to be amazing."

The radio station is helping with his record attempt.
It may not make a record.
But it will make a boy very happy.

sent in cards to Shane. They were so excited to be able to help. My son was hoping for a reply back. lol When I told him that Shane was likely overwhelmed with cards and it wouldn't happen, he was cool with that. It's nice that the kids could be a part of something important like that.
I just have to get MY card in the mail!!

My nephew is battling the same type of leukemia - he will be 8 in June and it is incredible how much these kids have to go through. Chemo, blood transfusion, low immunity, infections, etc. I could not imagine as an adult having to go through this. They are true fighters! My son's school is doing the same thing and my little guy was so excited to make him a card- he too is hoping for a response back!
