We are doing our first DVC trip in May and have several nights at OKW. We want to be in the newest buildings--are they the most current as far as decor? We also want to be near the HH as we want to use the main pool.

Which of the buildings do you recommend? Can you request a certain view? I really don't want to look out at cars, that's one of the things I want to get away from for vacation!!!!

Any suggestions?

None of the OKW views are of parking areas. All have either golf course, water (ponds/canal) or woods.
I doubt you could tell a room in a new building from one of the 1st phase built, as all have been refurbished (more than once in most cases) and include new paint, furniture and carpeting. Don't worry about room condition. If you should EVER get a room you consider to be dirty or substandard- report it immediately and the resort will do their best to improve the situation as soon as possible. Enjoy!

We have stayed in about 7 different buildings at OKW and they all look the same. We stayed in 62 last March and was a bit noisy. Buses woke us up early every morning. Not that big of a deal, but may be for some. You could also hear them late at night. We had a beautiful view of the pond and golf course, though. Never had a bad view except when staying in a studio, especially the ground floor. No view except of trees.

5 days and counting

Sometimes you can just have a thought of something being a bit "worn" and the magic happens. Last month we were in a GV in building 24 and I thought the outside porch furniture was a bit worn and scratched. On our last day two guys knocked on the door, carried out the white table and chairs and brought in brand new ones. Pretty cool, DVC reads minds now - not even a call or comment card needed!! Actually it sure is nice how well they keep everything up.

We booked a week around Xmas last year and they assigned us at bldg 62. It does not have its own parking lot. You have to park across the street or on the side buildings. Either way is quite a bit of walking if you have a lot luggage or have small children or elderly in your party. We quickly got back to the HH and they scrambled pretty to have our room changed. Later in the week while we were heading to the swimming pool one of the Managers approach us and ask us if everything was okay. I mentioned the whole thing and she agree with us that bldg 62 was a bit inapropiate to be assigned to families with small children and/or elderly. I hope my input had helped. BTW, during Xmas week all porters were quite busy and we were pretty much in our own for carry luggage.

Building 64 is the one without it's own parking lot. You do have to use the parking next door at 63 or across at 16 or next door at 15.
I agree that 64 is not the best for some guests!

Yes, we were in building 64 and I was left thinking "what are all those folks bragging about on the DVC board...the parking isn't that close!" until I returned and heard mention that this is the one and only building without its own parking area! And of course we are a family with 2 small children and we were only staying for one night...which made the moving in and out seem like a real pain!

But we did have the advantage of the elevator for bringing our stuff up to the second floor. Oh and just another note...these buildings really aren't very close to the Hospitality House or the main pool, but compared to most of the others they seem to be.
