Hoping someone can recommend an inexpensive dark spot remover they think works best. I want to lighten some old dark pimple spots. Thanks.

I used Mary Kay Srum + C and it faded my sun spot a lot, then I used some of DD's acne cream from the Dr and it completely went away (I think it was a generic retin A).

Proactiv has a dark spot lightener that is a miracle worker. It's not just for acne scars either, I use it on all sorts of dark spots.

I have to agree with the PP. A series of chemical peels is much much more effective than any over the counter solution. They are wonderful!! I know they can be pricey, but call around (I get them at my dermatologist and my plastic surgeon, who is actually less expensive but a farther drive). They start weak, then build up stronger each time. You need to go at least 5 or 6 times, about one to two weeks apart. Your skin will be so smooth (remember to moisturize and stay out of the sun) and the pigment is made better.

You can buy over the counter chemical peels online, but their strength is much less than what you'll get from a doctor.

Good luck!!!

Try a chemical peel. It is a miracle.

Looking to spend less then doing this. Thanks for recommending it.

Anyone else have any recommendations? Seems everyone likes something different. Any better then the other?

I've been seeing a lot of commercials lately for Clinique's Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Remover. I want to try it, according to their website it's $49.50, not sure if it's cheaper anywhere else.

Nizerol

My DD has had dark patches on her skin since she was a young child. The dermatologist said it was an allergic reaction to... get this... AIR!! Anyhoo, he had us buy this medicated shampoo, she uses it all over her face and body about once a month, and the dark patches stay away. It took 2-3 times to make them dissapear, but as long as she uses it once a month or so, they don't reappear. She stopped using it during her pregnancy, since the OB doctor wasn't sure if it would be ok, and the patches came back. But, once she started it again, the patches are gone... and my beautiful grandson is just 4 months old as of yesterday.
We get it at WalMart, it's about $15.00 a bottle, but it lasts several months since she only uses it once a month

Rinse your face in warm water and use a fresh lemon. Squeeze juice onto a cotton round and sprinkle it with regular sugar. Scrub your face, making sure you have lots of lemon juice. It's sort of a mini peel. The lemon has alpha hydroxy acids, and that, plus the sugar help to scrub off the dead layers and lighten the spots. I've been doing it for a couple of weeks now and I'm missing some freckles! Sun spots look better as well. Definately stay out of the sun, though. It works, and feels amazing. And if you get it in your mouth, it's lemonade...lol.

I'm happy with the results. Takes longer, but not expensive at all :)

HTH!

I went through 2 bottles of this for about 16 weeks (maybe more). It did nothing, and my spot was just a normal sun spot,

I used the Clinque Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Remover exactly as directed and it did nothing...waste of money :(

I've been using Philosophy's Help for the last year and a bit. I don't use it daily, though I did at first. It did lighten my spots, but they didn't disappear completely. When used daily, it does make your skin super smooth and lovely. I've just piddled out on using it and need to get back to it.

It is expensive, $50/tube, but would easily last you a year since you don't need very much at all.

I am prone to dark spots from break outs and also more show up from the sun. I use Olay Definity Daily moisturizer and that seems to break the cycle. If I don't use it or stay out in the sun too much they do seem to come back. Olay also has a dark spot remover that works great too, but I don't remember to use it. So far, besides using a lemon, this is the most budget option. Find a moisturizer that also removes dark spots, so you only have to buy one item!:hippie:

you know the Clinique correction stuff is guaranteed right? If it didn't do anything then return the bottle.

Tri-Luma knocked mine out in a matter of weeks. It is by prescription. Tried plain old hydroquinone first and that did nothing. IMO, you're going to have to spend a little to get something that REALLY works
