Not very happy with our choice of excursions for this port. Thinking we would take a tour to the Turtle Farm and then take a taxi or walk to a beach hotel for lunch. Any suggestions for a great lunch place overlooking the beach or any other ideas for Georgetown for that matter. Thanks !

I'm not sure the makeup of your group which may affect things.

It's really easy to get around Cayman via the public "buses" that are basically vans. It's $2pp and you can pretty much flag them down anywhere. It's very easy to get to the turtle farm that way.

If you want to spend time at the beach beyond having lunch and you're willing to spend a bit of money I recommend going through resort for a day and booking the Westin on seven mile island. There is a great pool and outdoor restaurant plus a truly beautiful beach. What's fabulous about this offering is that you get the use of a room for a day for up to four people.

We use this wherever we can find it offered (just did it again in St. Maarten). It's so wonderful to have somewhere to shower and change and not worry about lugging towels. Plus having someplace to store valuables while swimming.

We hopped on a bus to the turtle farm first thing and arrived before the tours so we had the place to ourselves. We were ok without a guide and had seen the whole thing after about 45-minutes. We hopped on another bus as the tour groups were arriving and went to the hotel where we still had a full day to enjoy the beach.

We haven't done a cruise stop in Cayman, but spent a week on Grand Cayman. A highlight is Stingray City, but the package the hotel offered was crazy expensive, and we found another tour group for a fraction of the cost. The tours usually include taking a boat to Stingray city, and a couple great snorkeling spots, one right at the reef. Some of the best snorkeling ever! A google search will pull up many options for groups that do this. We used Marvins, but read about another highly rated one. We toured the Turtle Farm on our own. A person at our hotel recommended Cemetery beach, we went there for a few hours and it was the calmest water I've ever been in. We took our own snorkels and masks and there is a ton of fish to see right from shore, but no amenities. We spent one day at Rum Point which is an awesome spot, you can lounge on the provided lounge chairs, they have food and drinks, and a great beach area. There are some great restaurants right in Georgetown. Very close to the turtle farm is a cool restaurant called The Cracked Conch, we had lunch here on the patio (the main part was closed, but the patio open for lunch) and it was a great setting. Sits over the water, but surrounded by limestone and has stairs that go right down into the water for divers. They were renting diving equipment right there as well. The island is very small and I would say it's easy to get transportation on your own to plan your own day. We loved Cayman!
