Please reassure me that I'm not too fat for the rides :(

Hi everyone,

I hope I'm not annoying all of you with my questions but I'm a worry-wart and I somehow can't calm down until I've been reassured over and over again; LOL! :scared:

I'm a bigger girl, but most people say that I don't look my size. I wear a EUR 52 / 54 pants depending on the cut and wear anywhere between XL and XXL in shirts...I've got big hips and a big kaboose, lol! I don't really have mobility problems...I'm quite active and don't have any problems walking / getting up

I weigh approx 285 lbs *cry* and my waist measurement is around 46 inches and my hips 58 inches (told you I've got a big butt...)

So either way, I don't think I'll have problems in teacups, and the like but I'm somewhat worried about the following:

- big thunder mountain
- tower of terror
- space mountain
- and the rest of the rollercoasters.

Anybody that's similar to my size been able to ride these rides???

Again, sorry about asking this again...I'm just worried (and excited at the same time) and I want to save myself the embarassment of being kicked off the ride.

Also...what are the seatbelts like in tot? Are they similar to airplane seatbelts?? Around the same size? I have never had a problem with airplane, bus, or car seatbelts so if they are all around the same length I should hope to be fine on TOT :)

sorry I am not sure..but as your fine on bus/aeroplane etc seats..I am sure you are fine.. maybe you could ring them direct and find out?? sure it will be fine!

Hi there!

Don't worry so much......!! Speaking as a curvy girl myself, I think you'll be fine!! If you really are very very worried, you could always ring ahead like hollymattbenmilo said. I have very big hips and a very big chest and I found I was fine on the rides (Rides like the Orbitron might be a bit uncomfortable, but thats just how they are designed)........

Hope thats reassured you a bit......

Thanks for your reassurances guys, I hope that I calm down soon!

I have been reading the "At Large" Trip Report for WDW, and if the rides are similar in Paris I think I should be fine. There are reports on there from people bigger than me and they say they had no problems :)

I've never been to WDW so I can't compare and it's been over 10 years since I went to DLC so I can't remember what the rides were like, lol.

I am sure the size of the seat etc on rides would be pretty standard, so I imagine in that case you will be fine!

If you can fit in a airplane seath then you'll be fine!!

I saw loads of very big (definitely over 300lb) people during my recent trip and didnt once see anyone get turned away froma ride or have any troubles.

Orbitron is very uncomfortable for anyone I think though, Jack and I got stuck in it beacuse his legs are so long and were wrapped around my childbearing hips! We ended up having to tip oursleves out - not very gracefully! SO I'll probably give it a miss next time!!

The one ride at DLP where there was a notice regarding "body types" was Crush's [oh, the irony :) ] Coaster. It is a bit of a squeeze that one.

I'm sure you will be fine! Like someone said crush MIGHT be a wee squeeze but can you not then just use that side for yourself (ie 2 sides, 2 on each side usually)..I saw plenty of skinny minnies doing that so it might be abit comfier??

Me, my husband and my cousin all sat on the phantom manor together..my husband then was a big lad...see the bit when you get to the mirror, well I near peed myself laughing and the state of us wedged in it!!:rotfl:

Seriously though I don't think you will have a problem..you will be fine!!

This is gonna sound real nasty but its not really...I swear I needed my husband to wedge me in RnR because I went on it once by myself and I thought I was gonna fly out the flippin thing, my legs were everywhere and my butt was lifting off the seat...I was crying!!:rotfl: Funny now but at the time I thought I was a gonner!:lmao:

Have a fab time petal! xxx

Sorry but was thinking about crush and now I can't remember if its one big seat or 2 seats together?? Maybe someone can say!

As horrible as this is to admit I was at least 2 stone heavier than you 2 years ago when I went to WDW (its coming off slowly but surely!). I did not have any trouble on any ride.

Most of the rides are the same i.e. big thunder mountain, rock n rollercoaster, teacups etc.

Having said this I have read that the new ride Crush's Coaster might be difficult for those of us round in the middle. I would maybe have a quiet word with a CM if you were concerned but other than that ride I cannot see any other rides being a problem.

Relax and enjoy yourself, you're going to have a brilliant time! :cheer2:

:rotfl: :rotfl: Brilliant!!

Thanks for everyone's replies...You have NO IDEA how much I appreciate it!

Booknut, I hear you about the weight coming off slowly. I gained a lot of this weight from exam stress (my brain needs sugary foods for studying, not healthy, LOL) but it's also slowly (but surely) coming off ;)

Another ride which I thought was a squeeze was Cars race rally. I'm a UK 18 and found myself a bit wedged in.

As another curvy girl, all I can say is that you should be fine. When we went in Feb I saw the signs for Crush saying if you're a certain shape you may not be able to ride I panicked but was ok. TOT has a very roomy lap beat and I particularly like this ride as I always feel as light as a feather as you rise off the seat!!;)

Feeling light as a feather is never a bad thing! LOL :rotfl:

I'm pooh sized around the middle and had no problems fitting on the rides! I admit I was worried about Crush Coaster but this was fine although the ride is 2 bucket shaped seats although as someone else mentioned maybe you could ride it yourself without someone by the side of you?

I didn't do Orbitron as I had a bad expericence when I was alot younger and it put me off for life!!

Enjoy yourself, stop worrying and start living the magic!

Thanks Fiona :)

I've started to calm down and am about to burst from excitement :D Only 4 more days!
