I am thinking of changing from the Dolphin to AKL with the new codes it is just about the same price. But, I am worried about the buses. I know that AKL does not share buses which is great but I am still worried. Please tell me your stories..............thanks!

We have visited AKL several times, staying at the resort and visiting to see the animals and to eat at Boma's. I just don't recall any significant waits at all.

I have never stayed at the Dolphin but have unfortunately experienced the bus that goes there when I stayed at Beach Club and Boardwalk. I would have to say that overall the shared bus service at these resorts is the only consistently negative part of any vacation I have had at Disney. It seeems that we always have to wait and wait to get a bus to the parks, and heaven forbid you actually want to leave MK anytime near closing, as there are always a couple of busloads of people already waiting, and waits between buses, then it just seems that the trip back to the Epcot resorts takes forever and everyone is packed in like sardines. I really don't like the bus service to and from this area.

I have never had problems with the transportation at AKL... buses come quit frequently!

We stayed there early Dec2002 and only had 1 wait that felt rather long but in hindsight it wasn't bad at all. For me, a huge thing was I never stood on a bus the entire time we were there (a full week) using the bus to and from the AKL. I really love this resort.

We have just returned from a stay at AKL, and have nothing but praise for the bus transportation there. I don't think we waited more than 10 or 15 minutes for a bus to or from the Lodge, and very rarely had one where we even had to stand up on.

As a matter of fact, there was only one time where the bus left full - Epcot at NYE, after the midnight fireworks. But we were still among the first on the very next AKL bus to arrive. We were all able to get seats at the front - but my wife and I gave ours up for an older lady and a mother carrying a sleeping child.

AKL is a keeper !!

We were there early December. I was impressed with the bus service. We usually stay on the monorail line and have stayed at the WL. The bus service to us was the best at AKL.

Never a crowded bus, never waited very long and going straight to any destination is a time saver like you would not believe.

I was hesitant about the buses as well after staying at the WL. But I was pleasantly surprised.

Too bad all resorts can't just have their own bus. It makes it so much nicer.

DH and I spent from Thanksgiving (2003) till Dec 11th at AKL and only used the transportation. We never had a long wait either coming or going but did occasionally find the buses filled to capacity. We were also there in the spring of 2002 for 6 nights and found the transportation was great then as well.
Don't let the transportation be a deciding factor against staying here it is really great and the ride to any of the areas never seems that long. Not sharing a bus with another resort is a plus for us, besides which you have direct routes to and from the parks except for MGM which stops at the water park when it is open.

I also never had a problem with the bus transportation. We never had more than a 10 minute wait during the busy time in July.

I have emailed Dreams to switch the ressies! :D :D you guy's are the best :Pinkbounc
