Thanksgiving vacation is over for the college students this evening. Please remember them as they travel back to school this evening to arrive at their destination safely.

I still get very blue to send my son back to Charleston. I always worry until that call is made that he arrived at the Citadel with no problems.

I know what you mean. My son is flying back to Arizona tomorrow. I'll be thinking good thoughts for everyone traveling back home, to college, etc., after the holiday. :grouphug:

Thanks for this post Byrd. It sounds like so many of us here have at least one in college (we do too) that this is a very sweet, timely and important post. And i'm sure we're all feeling the same about them.... sure had fun the last several days and will miss them even more now.... :(

I know just how you feel. My son drove back to school yesterday. It's a 7 hour drive for him and it was snowing most of the way. I'm always on pins and needles until he IM's me to let me know he has arrived.
One of his classmates was not so lucky however. My son received a message from the college while he was home that a fellow senior had died in a car crash while home for Thanksgiving. My son knew him since he was the boyfriend of a girl my son knows. How very tragic.

Our DD attends college three hours away and was only able to make it home for the day on Thanksgiving. Wish she could have been here all weekend but not this time. I know I was a nervous wreck after she left here to go home until I got that call saying she had arrived safely.

Our family's thoughts and prayers are with all of those college students that are on their way back to school! :grouphug:

Thank you for this timely post. My son is on his way back to college right now. It's only about a 3 hour or so drive, but it's dark and it's raining and we had to replace his windshield wiper blades *right* before he left! I always worry until we get the call that he's arrived safely. Saying a prayer for everyone..... :grouphug:

Here is hoping that everybody made a safe trip back. My boys don't come home for Thanksgiving anymore :sad1: They are both over 800 miles away, even if they fly, it is a short visit. Last year, the oldest, had only 12 days of school between Thanksgiving break and Christmas break, so it did seem like a waste of time somewhat for him to come home.

We drove DD back this morning because she had to be there for a basketball game. I was glad to get I95 out of the way early today.

Safe travels to everyone.

We got back a little while ago after bringing our DD back to school. I'm glad sometimes that she doesn't have a car and doesn't normally do the drive herself. One less thing for me to worry about.

I got back to school around 4. My mom brought me back since frosh can't have cars on campus. We got really lucky: no traffic until we hit campus (hockey game was just letting out). It's only a 40 minute drive, and it was sunny today. Much better than the conditions we traveled in yesterday (3 hours in the snow) and Thursday (two hours one way in snow, an hour the other on black ice)

that is so sad!

Sure will. Right now I'm sitting here waiting to hear from a friend to know that he got back to school okay.
