Please join me in celebrating my 50th Birthday...Deluxe Style! FINALLY COMPLETE

Oh no!!!!!!! I was so looking forward to the crab tostadas, I loved them.:sad1:

SSoooo disappointed in the change to cava. I love that place! tell me you can still get the shrimp ceviche?

I just realized...I've normally had my drinks at La Cava in that smaller glass. The other cup I've gotten when I get them to go (which is usually because I have kids).

I am bummed about the tostadas. Wanted to try them.

Just got back from my 50th birthday celebration trip to the world. We had lots of great food that I can't wait to tell you about and took tons of pictures to show you. However, DD2 graduates from high school in just ten days so I'll need to concentrate on that. Once that's over I promise I'll be back here with my reviews. Until then though I wanted to pass on a few tidbits of information about La Cava de Tequila. We were there just yesterday and were told by our waitress that their menu was changed last week. Sadly you can no longer get the chicken or crab tostadas that I love. Now for food they only have chips and salsa and/or guacamole. We got the chips and guacamole which was still the same as it was last trip and very good, but I was sooooo looking forward to the tostadas. :sad1: I guess you have to go to San Angel Inn to get your tostada fix from now on. Also I noticed that the margaritas are now served in the same glasses as they are served at La Hacienda instead of the glasses we had on our last visit to La Cava in Nov. 2010. In other words, instead of looking like this...

La Hacienda Lime Raspberry Margarita from Nov. 2010 trip

So anyway, I could be mistaken but it seemed like the serving size is now a little smaller for the same price. Also the Blood Orange Margarita that we got yesterday looked and tasted very different from the one from Nov. 2010 pictured above. There was no longer foam on top and it didn't taste nearly as good to me. Luckily, DD liked it well enough though. ;) On a positive note, I got to try the Avocado Margarita and it was absolutely delicious! Now this was my first time having it so I can't say whether or not it has also been changed, but I can say that it is now my favorite margarita at Disney World...and I've tried quite a few (at least six on this trip alone :lmao:). Another positive was that as we were finishing our margaritas, they brought us a complimentary Classic margarita. We went on a Wednesday right at noon when they opened the bar and were the only ones in there for awhile so that might have had something to do with the free drink. ;)

Whenever I get my pictures edited and downloaded to Photobucket I'll post my La Cava pics here. But until then, does anyone have any questions either about La Cava or any of the restaurants we visited on this trip? Btw, we followed the dining schedule which I listed in my first post. :thumbsup2

Well that just stinks :sad1:, I was really forward to trying the crab tostadas.:sad2:

The shrimp ceviche was definitely not on the new menu, however we didn't specifically ask if it might still be available. In the case of the tostadas though, I specifically asked about them when I didn't see them on the menu. :sad1:

The larger glass we had in Nov. 2010 was definitely not a to-go cup, but maybe they were just out of their regular margarita glasses at that time. The larger glasses could have maybe been water/soda glasses from the restaurant. :confused3

Happy 50th! What a great way to celebrate! (Speaking from a fellow WDW bday celebrant!)

The "new" margarita sure looks great. I'm looking forward to reading more of your experiences. Happy grad planning in the meantime.

Oh no! Why would they get rid of the tostadas?? :sad1: I do  that guacamole though.

Looking forward to hearing more about your trip. Happy belated birthday! :)

I am so sad to hear that all they have for food at the cava is chips and guacamole, we loved going there for drinks and tostadas

I have a couple questions about La Cava! Do they have a sampler to try all the flavors? Also can you get them to go? Not sure if my 3 kids would want to hang out there even though we would! Happy birthday also!!!

I know they used to have a margarita sampler (I've seen pics here on the DIS) when they first opened, but I don't think they have it anymore. I know that it was definitely not on their new menu. And although I have never taken the margaritas to go, I have read here that it can be done.

Oh, and thanks for the birthday wishes!

I was able to get the margarita sampler in December '09. I was told at the time that they had just stopped doing it but would do it for me since I asked. It was four small samples for like $17. I don't know why they would discontinue it. It was definitely cool trying the different flavors. There are pics in my "Part 2" dining report (link below)

Thank you to all of you who have joined me so far! And thanks so much for your patience. :) The graduation activities for DD2 are now over and DD1 (who joined me on this trip) left this morning for her summer internship at the University of Texas in Austin...but not before we went over our notes for the dining reviews, of course. ;) My pics are all downloaded so I just need to resize them and I'll be ready to get this party started! :thumbsup2

Coming soon: Arrival night dinner at Flying Fish Cafe

Had to pop in and mention that we stopped by La Cava a few times last week and where there used to be lines of people waiting to get in we found the place virtually empty. Looks like they shot themselves in the foot!:sad2:

Congrats to both of your daughters!!!!!

It was on the menu when we were there May 13th-17th- it is called Shrimp cocktail. It's the same thing, only with larger shrimp and in a big glass instead of the shot glasses. :thumbsup2 It actually was better than before-

It looks like this now-

I'm sorry we missed you in there!!:sad1:

Oops, I guess I must of missed the shrimp cocktail on the menu. Probably due to my extreme disappointment over the missing tostadas. :sad2: It does look pretty good though. Thanks for posting a pic! :thumbsup2
