I will be going to Sea World the 2nd week of November (on a weekday). I will be going with my husband, 5 yr old son, and 65 yr old mother. My mom will not last an entire day at Sea World so I would like a list of "must do's".

Please tell me the best shows/attractions that should not be missed. We probably will only stay for 3-4 hours.

Thanks so much!!!!!

Sea World is a much more relaxed park than Disney or Universal. You'll be surprised because you won't get as tired and my guess is that your mother will do just fine for the day - besides, tickets are too expensive to only spend a few hours there.

I suggest you go to the SeaWorld website and make a list of shows that appeal to your group. When you get to the park, organize your day based on show times, then fill in with other exhibits as time allows.

The most popular shows are the Seal Lion/Otter show (Clyde & Seamore - don't miss the fantastic preshow!), "Blue Horizons" (dolphins) and "Believe" (Shamu - killer whale).

Other great shows are "Odyssea (like Cirque du Soleil with an underwater theme and my personal favorite!) and "Pets Ahoy!" (dogs and cats).

Attractions that are most popular are penguins, shark encounter, dolphin cove and the stingrays.

The 2 rides at SW are Kraken (roller coaster) and Journey to Atlantis (roller coaster/flume). My guess is that your group will skip these.

"Wild Arctic" is a simulator ride that then opens up into a wonderful arctic exhibit (beluga whales, polar bears, etc). There is a non-motion option here - you still see the movie (I think) and go into the exhibit.

"Shamu's Happy Harbour" is a huge play structure with many levels - not my thing, but DH and the boys love it! There are also water play areas if it's a hot day.

So - that's my description of Sea World - if they give you a free day, why not go both days - we did and had a very relaxed pace. The day will fly by if you go to 3-4 shows, the 4-5 main attractions and have a nice lunch (we liked Voyager's). They also have special dining experiences available - do a search on this site for reviews (we haven't done these). Since you're going in November, I don't think there will be any night shows. Check the website for current promotions/pricing discounts.

Have a great time!

I completely agree with Bearvet.

Will your mom ride in a wheelchair??? If so, I'd check one out when you enter the park. It'd make getting from one end of the park and back so much easier, then just park and let her walk to the exhibits. SW is a great choice for the varied age range in your group.

Have a great time!!!!!!!
