Please help with this point question

If I were to join DVC this week - lets say my months is December - do I then have to wait until December 2006 to book the points for the following use year or can I book the points now for use in December 2006??

Could I also then borrow from the next year??

I hope this is not too confusing. What we were thinking is the following:

December 9-16 - SSR or OKW (2006 points)
December 16-26 - Disney 10 day cruise
December 26 - January 3, 2007 SSR (2007 points)

Does this work and how if were to become DVC members in early 2006.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I'll answer what I can.

Assuming you're interested in booking at your home resort (11 month booking window) as I understand your question - yes, you could book in 12/06 now, using 12/06 points.

I am pretty sure that you could borrow 12/07 points and put them "in" your 06 useage. Just remember that borrowed points cannot be returned to their orginal use year.

Personally I don't borrow--the future resulting lack of points would be too painful for me!

If you were to purchase from Disney right now with a December Use Year, you would have a full compliment of your 2005 points immediately. These could be used for a reservation betweem 12/01/05 and 11/30/06. If you wish to use those points for a reservation after 12/01/06 you would need to bank those points. You can also use the points available on 12/01/06 and/or borrow points from the 12/01/07 Use Year. In this fashion you could have the use of 3 years worth of points for a reservation.

The same premise would be possible with any Use Year- as all purchases direct from Disney will get current Use Year points and then another allotment at the start of the next Use Year.
