I am so excited and so nervous to be staying in a cabin. I have been to WDW quite a few times but never to the campground except for the HDD and Mickey's BBQ. I feel so overwhelmed about what I don't know.

There are 5 of us - all adults and this seemed like the best accommodations. My daughter just started the college program and we are going to visit her from Saturday March 12 to Tuesday March 15. She has been able to get Sunday through Tuesday off from work and is going to try to swap so she can get Saturday off as well. She is one of the 5. My 20 year old son and his girlfriend, too.

My first question has to do with parking. I read that at the cabins the car is parked right outside the door. Is there room for two cars? DH has a car there and the "kids" are going to go to Busch Gardens one of the day. If the two cars can be parked at the cabin great, if not we figure out something else.

When I go to Disney I always intend to spend time at the resort but we just go, go, go at the parks and don't end up with a lot of resort time. This seems like a waste with all the activities but again we want to get the parks done and as I said the kids are going to Busch.

Is the campfire with Chip and Dale every night? Is there a movie everynight? Will the 19/20 year olds enjoy these? These are not drinking, not partying young people. I am paying for this trip and the only requests they have made are for the HDD and Chef Mickey's - just to give you an idea of their interests. What time are these held? We have Saturday night reservations for the HDD at 7:15. Would it be better to try for the earlier show? Monday is the Busch Gardens day. Maybe they'll get back early enough to have fun at the campground.

I am excited to have a kitchen for a couple of reasons. Obviously it will be nice to save money. But I really like the idea of being able to have breakfast as part of getting ready to go instead of having to get ready and then go to breakfast. None of us are morning people but we always make rope drop at the parks. The Disney website says, "we'll even do the dishes." This is the sentence that is really stressing me out. What I would do if it weren't for this statement is to cook, eat, and give the dishes a quick rinse so as to not attract any little creatures and head out. When I got home I would wash dishes. I feel like if I did this someone else would come in and wash my dishes. So do I just do it this way and let someone else do the dishes. Or do I actually wash and dry and put the dishes away. Finally, what about tipping? I always tip when we stay at a resort, but it seems that if someone is going to be doing my dishes I should leave more. Can you tell I have a real hangup with the dishes?

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Feel free to offer any advice to things I probably haven't even thought of.

So excited :yay::yay::yay:

First of all relax.Fort Wilderness is the most laid back and quiet of all the resorts.we are two senior citizens who would not stay any place other then the cabins and have for almost the last 10 years. In fact we just returned home last week from a 2 week stay.
You are only supposed to have one car parked at a cabin and any other cars left in the overflo lot.
The kitchen is wonderful and comes complete with a dish washer (electric).
I always just ran my dishes under water and loaded them in the dish washer before we left or started it, They have packets of detergent for it. I have heard that they will do it but I just did it myself.
As far as tipping goes a dollar a day per person is the going rate but it is up to you.We have always left $5 a day when we had them come in,which was not every day. The mouskeepers have always been wonderful and have filled our cabin with towel animals.
The movie and campfire is every night except when it rains. You will be give a list of all activities and the movie list when you check in. The movies for the month are also listed at the beginning of each month at the top of the camping forum here.
Have a great trip, you will love:love: the cabins I know we do.

Yes, I think your 19/20 year olds will hava great time,,after all, who doesn't like 5 foot tall chipmonks and roaring fires to cook your mallows and dogs over while you watch a Disney movie, :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

YEAH BABY !! Can I come too !?!?!

Don't worry about not having enough resort time. There's just something about the Fort that will slow you down and make you want to be there instead of anywhere else! It's a totally different atmosphere than the other Disney resorts.

I'll be honest - I hate doing dishes. It physically makes me sick. So having someone willing to do them for me is heaven! :cloud9: Just remember to unload the dishwasher. I forgot one day and the dishes got washed twice! :rotfl2:

There really isn't room for two cars to park at the cabins, even if Disney allowed it. The driveway is wide enough for a car and a golf cart, but two cars would be too much, and I've stayed in a cabin or two where there wasn't really even any grass space adjacent to the driveway to overflow on to. It's not such a big deal to go to the overflow lot for the second vehicle.

If you haven't made a loop request, you might consider requesting loop 2100. With five adults and one bathroom, you might like to be relatively close to a comfort station, just in case some people need some extra "get ready" time. Although the bathroom in the cabins is large, and could accommodate a couple people at a time (if you don't have privacy issues), it's not like the resorts that have the sink outside the bathroom to speed things up. There is a vanity area w/o a sink in the bedroom, and that is where the hair dryer is located, which helps.

As other have posted you shouldn't be worried about the dishes.

One think you do need to keep in mind is that 5 adults is a bit tight for a cabin. My family is now 4 adult size people and a cabin is as small as we want to go.

You have one full bed and a set of bunk beds in the bedroom and one full size Murphy bed in the living room. Also only one bathroom but three sinks at least (don't forget the kitchen sink).

The good news is that right outside your door you a ton of space.

Thank you for the responses. I feel better about the dishes but know I am going to be disappointed with the time we will be able to spend at Fort Wilderness.
