Please help me with this decision.....

I have been reading the rumors on the free dining thread and although I know things may change, I just went based on what MAY happen.

So I have a current package at Finding Nemo suite (2 adults, 3 kids ages 7, 5 and 22 months) with reg base tickets. Ok fine. Now there may be a possibility that free dining comes into play with my dates. I am very excited for this BUT now my package is going to change: I have to add upgrade to parkhopper, upgrade to reg dining plan (I have a lot of character meals booked!) and this package is going to go to almost $4000.

So I now I am thinking what if I switch to another resort with just a standard room (instead of suite) and I priced it out and it will be like $700 cheaper. The resort I was looking into was All Star Movies (as my kids will like this theming better because of Toy Story, Dalmatians, etc)

Is that price worth the switch?? I really need help with this.

Thanks!

For a savings of $700, I would switch. But it may not be a true savings of $700, given that you don't know when, if or which resorts will be involved. There's no need to make any changes now since having an existing reservation at a participating resort does not give you an advantage over anyone else. Just arm yourself with the numbers and be prepared to sit on the phone for a very long time when (if) *free* dining is announced.

I would also suggest, if a room-only offer is released for your dates as well, that you price that out (along with free dining), with the components you actually want (base tickets and DDP). Especially with the make-up of your family, you may find a room-only discount offers you more savings than a free dining discount.

All Star Movies has been excluded from FD most years.

If you are looking for more room but cheaper than the AoA Suites, All Star Music has Family Suites

There is no reason to change to a different resort package if the only reason is in hopes of having a better chance of getting a discount in the future. Rooms allocated to discounts and specials come from a different room inventory than rooms booked now so it is very possible that once the special is announced you would have to change resorts or room category any way. Having a room or package now will not improve your chances of getting a discount later.

At this point, before specials are announced, most would recommend choosing the resort and/or price that would make you happiest if you are not able to take advantage of a future special. At least you will have the room you want.

I would book where you are happy, and if discounts are offered, then decide. I dont think it makes any sense to make a preemptive change.
