Please help with Grand Floridian Lagoon View room request

I have a reservation for the Grand Floridian the last week of October and I decided to go for the Lagoon View since my last trip to the Poly I was kind of frustrated that since my baby daughter was sleeping we couldn't leave our Garden View room to catch the water pagent. Plus the idea of seeing the castle from our balcony is kind of special. Currently my reservation says only "Magic Kingom view". Usually I will try scout out the best building so I can give a more precise request, in case they can grant it. Although I have been on the Floridian grounds more than a few times, I'm not really sure what to ask for here. The FAQ says that Sago Cay and Conch Key have the water pagent views. It would be nice to be closer to the pools and since I can't find a map with the new pool on it ( anyone have one ? ) I'm assuming its near the health club.

So I guess my question is , should I just leave my request of "Magic Kingdom view" alone or is there a specific building (Boca Chica maybe?) that would allow me to be able to see the castle, the water pagent and be closer to the pools ? Also any other comments on a lagoon view room would be appreciated such as the preferred decor, etc.

Thanks, Matt

If you want to see the water pageant most of all, I would suggest Boca Chica.

We've stayed in both Boca Chica and Conch Key.

At Boca Chica you'll have a wonderful view of the water pageant as well as the Poly, Contemporary and looking out the left of your balcony you will see the castle.

At Conch Key we looked head on at the castle and didn't have a clear view of the water pageant.

I loved both . . . :)

We stayed in Bocha Chica, I asked for that building and we were on the 4th or 5th floor (smoking) and I also asked for a MK view, we could see the Mk and had an obstructed view of the castle. We had great view of the elec. pageant.
Bocha Chica is right next to the pool which was great, and we were not too far from the food court either.
The GF is a lovely resort you will love it!

We had LV in Big Pine Key. We were close to both pools. From our balcony, we could see the castle, the Poly, the Contemporary and the Water Pageant. When I first arrived on that visit to find we'd been given BPK, I thought 'Oh No....:(. I was wrong. We had a fantastic room with so many views. The proximity to both pools and beach was also a plus. BPK offered the better views, b/c it sticks out further into Seven Seas Lagoon. Have a great trip!

I've also had the LV in Big Pine Key. We were in the end wing (same as olena), and it was actually my favorite room ever at the GF. Anything in the end wing of BPK has great MK views. But, there are a lot more rooms with this view in Boca Chica than Big Pine Key (which has a TON of lagoon view rooms w/o MK views).

:)

Wow, thanks for all the replies.

It seems that what the above posts are saying is in direct conflict to the comments in the FAQ regarding the water pagent view.

Thanks for all the help.

We had a fabulous corner room in Big Pine Key with TWO balconies! We could watch the Polynesian EWP off one facing the GF beach and Polynesian and then head over to the other balcony facing the Contemporary and MK and watch it again in front of the GF. Unbelievable room!

Yes, they are beautiful rooms. However, the GF is currently putting them into a different room class, and you'll have to pay extra for them. I was told that they might be held by the hotel, where you wouldn't be able to get a reservation for them (you'd have to be "in the know" at the resort to even have a chance to get one).

Thanks for all the help, I think after researching this my final request would be, "end wing of Big Pine Key, or Boca Chica, unobstructed Magic Kingdom view, dormer room if possible". Is that a good way to state it or am I asking for too much? Also what is the best way to make this request and how far in advance, I have heard conflicting reports regarding which is better, faxing or calling. Also some say 5 days some say 7 , I would think I should add this to my request with CRO now as well as contacting them right before the trip. Any ideas would be appreciated. Again, thanks for all the help.

Your room requests sound good. If you have it listed on your reservation, you really wouldn't need to fax. If you do fax, send it 4 days prior to your check-in date. Four days would be measured (example, Saturday check-in, Tuesday fax). :)
