Traveling to So Cal the first week of June. We've decided to visit DCA one of the days that we are there (Sun-Wed). We were at WDW last year for a week, and we want to do other things in CA, too. (please don't flame me, we may be back in Orlando in Oct of this year)

At any rate, Wed (the best crowd day) the Aladdin show is not on the schedule. However, Disney Channel Rocks and Disney Dance Crew are. I figured DD (11) would enjoy both of those. But I want to see Aladdin, too. So - which day do we pick? Wed (low crowd) or Sun (higher crowd), but has all 3 of those shows?

Thanks a bunch.

Is there a reason your only two possibilities are Sunday or Wednesday if you're there Sun-Wed? Is it because you wanted to see the Disney Dance Crew and Disney Channel Rocks shows? If so, I see those aren't playing on Monday or Tuesday, but I think Aladdin is superior. Also, you'll be going to DCA the week of the Little Mermaid opening, which means big crowds. I'd try to avoid the Sunday if at all possible in my opinion.

Sorry for the confusion - yes, we are open to going on Mon or Tues as well as Sun or Wed. Yes, we are lucky (maybe) that Mermaid is opening before we get there, but I know it will be nuts. Just trying to customize our plan, and need to decide which day it will be.

Just to clarify, are you NOT going to Disneyland Park at all?

If seeing Aladdin is a "must do" for you, then pick a day when it's showing. But you can certainly have a good time without watching the show :)

I would DEFINITELY do a hopper. You'll want to do Indy and DL's Space Mountain at least over at DL. Plus Matterhorn and all of the Fantasyland rides that MK does not have. Especially because looking at your signature, you've never been to DLR??? You for sure want to step inside the original, no?

DCA actually has very few major attractions that aren't at WDW:
-Grizzly River Run
-Ariel's Undersea Adventure
-California Screamin
-Tower of Terror (is slightly different)
-Aladdin
-World of Color
-Monster's Inc (is a major attraction?)

Do both parks.

I couldn't agree more. You need a hopper pass! If you've never been to DL you must go walk through Fantasyland, Ride Alice, Mr. Toad. Go walk through New Orleans Square. Ride Indiana Jones. Ride Space Mountain if you dare, because once you have you'll see how lame WDW's one is. LOL. And even pause to laugh at the small castle. Any disney fan that is within 50 yards of DL and doesn't go in?! Shocking, I tell you!

Then you can hop over to CA and ride Monsters Inc, see Aladdin, etc.

I think it's really hard to predict crowds when new rides are opening and when summer is upon us. I've been on a sunday in July and had wonderful crowds and then on Monday it was jam packed.

The thing is, if you buy the hopper, you have the option of going over to DLR even if you don't think you'll want to...it leaves your options open! I don't think I could spend a whole day at DCA...there is not as many things there that I love to do. Hopping is they way to go...so at least you can see the original Disneyland, if nothing else. And maybe the new parade. And maybe a couple different rides. And our little castle. You can see where I'm going with this!

To me (a WDW vet) Aladdin, Indiana Jones, and DL's version of Pirates are must dos! I would go on a day Aladdin was playing and I would get the hopper. Hopping between parks is nothing like at WDW. At DL/CA, the gates face each other, and there is only a plaza in between. It takes about 2 minutes to get from one park to the other. You can go back and forth all day if you want.

For us Sunday was the most crowded day in either park. So you kind of have to decide on if you want to miss the show or wait in longer lines. I would go on wednesday.

I think needing a hopper has been well established. But you still need more than a day. If you can only pick one.

Wednesday the 8th. Most APs will be blocked it is going to be much less crowded. Those APs will be all over the place on the Sunday and Monday and Tuesday.

You guys are killing me . . . lol. Once I started planning the schedule, and with POTC out now, I was already having a hard time knowing that I was going to miss DL. Now, I just have to convince DH on the hoppers. Thanks for the advice. I think I'll just show him the post and say, "See, honey, all the experts say we have to do both parks."
