I know this sounds strange but I heard this before of on this board. Someone said that a certain day of the week airline ticket prices tend to be the cheapest (the day you book the flight not the actual travel dates). If anyone knows I would really appreciate the information.
TIA, Melissa

It seems to me that it is generally cheaper on Tues-Wed-Thurs with Southwest. I would guess Mon and Fri would be busier to business travelers going and returning and possibly for the traditional vacations taking the five day trip. Sun and Sat for the traditional seven day vacationers. I would reccomend T-W-T if they work or atleast going or returning on one of these days.

I am sooooo dumb. I totally phrased that question wrong. What I ment was the day you do the actual booking of the airfare, rather then the days you plan on flying. I guess I knew what I was saying and did not realize I asked a whole different question.
Thanks anyway for your help.

we usually have found good fares on Friday afternoons/evenings. not sure if there is a real pattern to it or not.

I am using SWA and also flying out of Norfolk as a connector. Even with my time difference here and the fact that I am also a night owl, I check the price of my flight at all hours of the day and night. There is no difference. I have been checking daily since mid Feb.

I just read that Wednesday was the best day of the week to buy airline tix and the weekends were the worst. The article said that airlines usually announce their sales on a Monday, then on Tuesday the competing airlines lower their fare on those routes to compete with the first airline's sale, and all this "jockeying" for position in the air fare sale is complete by Wednesday morning. Hope that helps!

Thanks so much, MElissa
