I had RT tickets out of Washington Nat'l on 10/14 to MCO returning on 10/21. Due to closure of Nat'l airport, I successfully changed departing flight to 10/13 4:00PM out of BWI. (USAIR rep said they were authorized to make changes for flights thru 10/15) However, they will not reschedule my return flight because they "haven't received any notice of cancellation" and are still holding out hope of Nat'l airport opening in time.

I am looking at today's official President's initiatives off the White House web site and it clearly states that for the next three weeks only the DCA - NY and DCA - Boston shuttles and a few flights to Atlanta and Pittsburgh will be flown by USAIR thru Nat'l. Meanwhile, all of USAIR's flights back to BWI and Dulles are sold out on the weekend that we are due to return. And to top it all off, my departing 4:00pm flight has since been canceled and they have put me on a 6:20 pm flight which I told them I did not want. Now I really want my money back because I can now book on Delta for around $400 less and at more suitable times. Do I have to wait until USAIR finally acknowledges that they will have to cancel my return flight and then scramble to place me on another airline? HELP!!!!

Have you called and asked for a refund due to your flight cancellations? I'm not sure I see why the *wouldn't* give it to you ...

I would sit tight about the return to DCA (Reagan).

I assume you already have a way to get to BWI for your outgoing trip without too much inconvenience when the return comes back to DCA (open jaw) since you allowed that to be booked. Once you allowed that to be booked, you don't have the immediate right to change your mind and cancel. But if they cancel something else it is your choice whether the replacement flight is before or after although it is their choice as to how much before or how much after based only on airplane completely sold out conditions. You may also have the right to turn around anc cancel the whole trip if they cancel a flight. If the return to DCA is cancelled, they will almost surely fly you to IAD (Dulles) or BWI without your having to ask.

SeashoreCM, thanks for your response. I realized immediately that we would have to fly out of BWI or Dulles and that is why I agreed to the 4 PM flight. At the time I told them I did NOT want the 6:26PM flight, that if that were the case I would like a refund and would rebook on another airline. Then, after much discussion they agreed to the 4 pm flight but told me I couldn't change the return flight until it was officially cancelled. Well yesterday, the president announced that only the shuttles and a few flights to Atlanta and Pittsburgh will be flying for the next three weeks. What more do they need? I feel that they are waiting as long as possible to make sure that their ticketholders have NO other options but to fly to whereever and whenever USAIR decides to place them. I resent this terribly. Had they accomodated me when I first asked I would gladly have flown into and out of BWI on USAIR. Now that Management knows that my return flight will not be flying, they should rebook me now or give me a refund so that I can find my own flights. I don't think that is too much to ask. Also, I do not want to leave my car at BWI to find out sometime during my WDW trip that they have scheduled me to return to Dulles or to National through Atlanta or Pittsburgh.

is your return flight to national direct, or through a hub? If it is through a hub, then that is probably why they haven't cancelled you yet, b/c the can get you from dca-mco through a hub.

i feel your pain. 20 of my wedding guests are flying out of national and their flights are questionable right now too, yet they still have to wait to rebook.

oh caitycaity, I am so sorry that you have to be this stressed right before your wedding! Yes, I now have a direct flight booked backed into national - that is why I paid more for the tickets -for the convenience. I do have some good news though. I just got a courtesy hold through Delta for great flights and fares into and out of IAD. These will be good until tomorrow night so I have a good two days to argue with USAIR! Good luck to you.

good luck to you too. :)

i was reallt stressed out about it until they tol me that they would all get there "no matter what." they're all 21-25 so they were talking about renting a bus. they could always take the train too. i'm still confident that they'll find a way to fly though. :)
