Now that I have your attention:

we have this adorable but spunky English Cocker Spaniel Puppy :dog: who is almost 4 months old. He LOVES toilet paper. I can't put the TP on the roll because he will try everything to get it rolled off. I've tried putting the roll up and the roll down, and it doesn't matter, he can get it. Any other suggestions? Any puppy proofing contraptions that might work. I'm sick of leaving it sit on the counter. :confused3

close the bathroom door and make it off-limits to him

I would leave it on the back of the toilet seat until he outgrows this stage, unless you are able to keep him out of the bathroom. Our current kittens sometimes play with the tp, but I remember when our cats were kittens and they were awful about it! They did outgrow it, though.

This is what we do at our house. The puppy is not allowed in the bathroom because there's all sorts of stuff that could hurt her in there including things like dental floss in the trash can. It's easier to just leave the door closed and keep her out of there.

While this would be the most simple and logical answer I think it sometimes it's easier to train the dog than to train the DH, DD and DS to shut the door of the bathroom when their finished!

I guess I'll keep with what I'm doing...hopefully he'll forget about it after awhile!

Leave a note on the door to remind the family to shut it! I used to have an Old English Sheepdog that stole tissues, she preferred used ones too..yuk. She would forage down the sides of couches to find them. Leave her with a brand new box, and she wouldn't touch one!

Brings back great memories of when I got home one night and had a trail of TP from the bathroom through everyroom of my apt and ending at my puppies bed. Funny part was the TP was all in one piece. I actually sat on the toilet and rolled it all up.

There used to be an advertising campaign in the UK for a toilet paper brand called Andrex, the tag line was soft, strong and very long. To show this they had a little lab puppy run around the house trailing tp, pretty much just how ItsOnlyExperiment626 experienced! The theme lasted for years, don't know if they still use it. I guess puppies (especially those English ones!!) are drawn to tissue products!!

My Standard Poodle is like that, too, only he is drawn to,umm...certain kinds of hygeine products. With Christian drawn to the TP and Minky drawn to the trashcan, we all learned to just keep the door shut. You don't want to know the consquences of not shutting the door :crazy2:

Throw out the TP and start using the JC Penney catalouge :rotfl2:

Eww! Hope she didn't find any!

A couple of our cats enjoy facial tissue and it's a plus when it's used. They will take them out of the popup carton, which is kind of funny to watch, but they just take one or two. I do not have greedy kitties! :teeth:

Thanks for the tip...that aughta solve the problem :rotfl: Of course it could cause more, if you get my drift!

Mabel is now 7 1/2 months old and still LOVES toilet paper!!! I have it sitting on the window ledge and keep the bathroom door shut....these past months the family has gotten in the habit of shutting it....probably because they are tired of chasing Mabel around the house to get the toilet paper from her....

My fur baby is no longer a puppy so we dont have puppy snagging the TP but I do have a 20 month old who just loves playing in the toilet and stringing the TP all across the house. Lowe's and most other home improvement stores carry a guard of sorts, its plastic, to put over the TP roll to keep eager hands or in this case mouths from unraveling a roll of TP.
