We've only been once (12/04) since having children and when we took them down 1.5 yrs ago, my oldest was 4 and HATED it-was terrified of the characters, the "indoor" rides, etc.... but my then 26 month old LOVED it. My DH didn't like having to juggle the carseat, stroller, diapers, luggage, etc... all over the airport and onto the plane. He swore we would not return until Oct. 2007 when they were 7 and 5-no diapers/stroller/carseat..... Over the past 2 days, I've had numerous friends call me asking for advice on their Disney trips that they're taking this year ( I used to be a cast member).... I got bit soooo bad by the Disney bug now that I HAVE to go this year (1st week of Oct)!LOL! :rotfl: We'd planned on going to VA Beach in July for our vacation to "save" money for Disney.. but in doing the cost of what that trip would cost in comarison to a trip to Disney in a moderate hotel, the savings is not that much! DH was spoiled on our honeymoon when we got a great CM rate at the Beach Club and refuses to stay anywhere else. He loves that whole EPCOT resort area.... I've been doing my research all morning and I can get a great rate at POR or POFQ-but I don't know if he'll go for it. I know he's not ready to do the trip this October... how on earth do I sell it to him for THIS year?!?!? :rotfl: My oldest will be 6 when we go (and she has been BEGGING to go back-but I think she's thinking we'll be doing Stormalong Bay again (not the case)) and my other DD will be turning 4 the day I hope we can go! :rotfl: She'd have a great birthday! There are no diapers to deal with anymore and I would still bring my Maclaren stroller even if we went NEXT year...... Anyone else run into a resistant DH?????

I have a resistant DH!!! :rotfl2: I am in the same boat, but trying to convince him of a trip next year! I want to go NOV 2007 instead of 2008. He wants to save and this and that and I keep telling him that there are always good rates at different times! Actually, my plan on hooking him is this- I want to go when my kids "still believe" in these types of things. My oldest will be 9.5 if we go in 2008 when my DH wants to go. I think next year would be perfect because he would be old enough (8.5) to ride all the things he wants, but not too old that he would think that the characters are "silly". Not that he probably would anyway because he loves Disney as much as I do and i don't think they're silly, but this is being used for the sake of reeling my DH in. My other kids will be 6.5 and 3.5 if we go Nov 2007. We went last year (April 2005) and had a blast! I don't think we can hold out for 2 more years! Good luck! Let me know if you come up with an original idea to get our DH! :thumbsup2

I had to drag Dh (almost kicking and screaming) on our first trip. (He was sure it would be a kiddie hell.) He had a great time and I didnt even have to threaten to hurt him for our next trip. The selling point for him is the dining plan. He ate like a king and intends to do it again in December. We had a really great trip, I was shocked that he agreed to go back a year later.

Get the kids in on it. Have a new planning video "mysteriously" show up in the mail. Get the kids to ask him if they can watch it. Then make sure they oooh and aaaah at everything and ask if they can go to Disneyworld.

Why not check out the DVC rent board. You could get a studio villa at BCV for about the same as a moderate...maybe this would win him over

Once upon a time I had a resistant DH. He actually did not go on our son's first trip (he was 4 and I took him with my mom and sis). I knew better than to take my DH until everyone was out of diapers and on their own foot power (men, gotta love 'em).

We made several offsite trips and we have been to US, IOA, Wet N Wild, Sea World, Busch Gardens, and Kennedy Space Center.

Last year we stayed onsite for the first time (I had never stayed offsite until I went with DH). We were at the YC, so I understand where you're coming from with your DH and the BC. My DH absolutely resisted staying onsite for monetary reasons (he thought it was "stupid" to pay so much extra just to say you were staying IN WDW). :confused3

Well, thanks to the YC, he is an onsite convert!!! :woohoo: We've actually had the same dilemma about where to stay this year. We finally made ressies at POFQ. DH really wanted to stay at YC again. He loved it there. But, we've had a pretty costly year (major home renovations) and it was either stay in a moderate or not go at all. :scratchin

Believe it or not, my DH said "whatever it takes, WDW is the best vacation I can imagine. I'll stay wherever just to get to go". I almost fainted!!!! :faint:

I know this is getting long, but I have to say our kids are older now. DH and I have one son (12) and he has a son (16 almost 17) and a daughter (20). DH appreciates the fact that if we stay in Disney, they are free to come and go as they please (the older ones) and that he can go back to the room anytime he wants and rest without disturbing everyone else's day. He loved sitting out by SAB or even the quiet pool with a cool drink. I think last year was the first time he actually rested and relaxed even a little bit on vacation.

Promise your DH as much rest and relaxation as you think you can stand! Works with mine..... ;)
