OK, Ok... some of you are thinking... WHY NOT????

Here's the full story.

1) It was -10 degrees out this morning. :( I am sick of freezing.
2) DH has business trip to Tampa from Fri 2/28 to Fri 3/7.
3) DH also has 2 USAir tickets buring a hole in his pocket.

Plan A) Have DH pick us (me, ds (6), dd (4), dd (2) ) up at Tampa Airport on Tuesday night... drive us to ASMu for 4 nights while he heads back to Tampa for business. He heads over on Friday night, we check out on Saturday morning, do parks until dinner time then head back to Tampa for hotel since we would have a 6:45am flight on Sunday. Total Cost $1000.

Plan B) Stay home. Pout. Save money for July Trip (when it will be hot here in Buffalo ANYWAYS! )

Pros: Be at Disney, Swim in March, Lower Crowds  .
Cons: 5 hour flight (inc. 1.5 hour layover) alone with three kids.
Disney alone with three young kids!

OK... I know you can't tell me to do it or NOT, but what are your opinions? Should I attempt it? Am I entirely insane? Should I just buck it up and save the money for July?

Thanks!

Karen

if i had the chance, i'd rather be at disney with 3 young kids, alone, than freezing to death here in the midwest any day...

JMO though...good luck with whatever you decide!!!

Buffalo in March vs. Disneyworld anytime?

Have a great trip. :)

I'd do it in a heartbeat! In fact, we have done similar things in the past. Only difference is, I would be at OKW!! and we have APs, so the cost would be less!:p

Personally, I would do it!:D I think all of us enduring this horrible winter could use the break of a Florida vacation. Second, in my opinion, doing disney in the middle of summer is a diaster in the making (or I should say, it would be with my kids! ) How well do your kids tolerate the heat? Mine get down right cranky!! Third, you are right about the crowds, there will be a lot less people in March than July.

My opinion....START PACKING!!:p

I don't know...I have three kids about the same ages, 6, 3 1/2 and 17mos. I just don't think I could manage the plane by myself..especially with a layover. But once in WDW I would be ok. Only you know your children and your OWN limitations so good luck in your decision.

Have a safe trip..

Let me tell you that if you are in WDW w/o DH you can set your own pace...sometimes that can be very relaxing...
But right now I would go ANYWHERE (esp WDW) to escape this cold.. I am sick of winter.

When my kids were that age I would not have had fun at Disney by myself with the three of them, just too much to handle and watch at once, but then my kids were wanderers. How many attractions are you going to be able to go on by yourself with the three little ones? If I could do both, then I would do it, otherwise I would rather wait and go with DH.

Hi everyone!

See, Kallison brings up my nervous point... what rides are SAFE enough for my 6 (almost 7) yo and 4 yo to ride alone on together... Peter Pan should be ok... but still, there is always that stupid chance that she might stand up??????

Of course, since we were there in October and going in July, we can skip alot of those rides, and concentrate on shows and the pool.

What rides would you skip? What rides would you feel fine with a 4 and 6 year old on together?

K

I brought my young children to WDW without DH once. They were about 5 and 2 at the time. Never again, until the oldest is at least 5 or 6.

I found it very stressful, being that I couldn't keep my eye off of 2-year old for even one second. DS who was 5 at the time was pretty good about staying with me, but with those crowds, you could easily lose a child in a blink of an eye. Thank goodness I had some of my DIS friends there at the same time (I'm forever indebted to Dan Murphy and Bet Snyder for giving me a hand on that trip!)

Everyone is different, though, but I decided after that trip that me + little ones - DH was not a winning equation.

Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable letting my 4 and 6 year olds ride anything alone.

Go and have a good time. Pace yourself and only do as much as you're comfortable with. You'll be fine!

Take an adult friend to help out with the kids. :)

I would go in a heartbeat but alter my expectations while there. I would only go on rides that I could do with everybody.

Also, the tickets...... Were you planning on buying tix for your July trip? Would it be cost effective to buy AP's to cover both trips? Would that save some money?

I would go
a)to get out of the freezing weather
b)to give your kids some swimming & fun times
c)to spend a little family time with your husband
d)just because I love Disney!

I totally agree with Serena:) what a blast to have a friend along. Also, you could concentrate on the resort as much as the parks, enjoy the pool and relax. That's part of the escape of Buffalo's cold. DTD has some nice ways to enjoy the day with little ones, and then you are also saving a day of uses off your pass for your return trip in summer.
I would go...I understand your stress over the air travel alone, as I did it w/2 years back, but I do have to say, I was the boss then, sometimes when we travel DH is as bad as the kids and I wish I was alone or back on my own again!;)

I would say go too but I I think you need a little help witht he kiddos. Thats sounds tough taking 3 little kids and being alone. Can you ask you mom, mil or maybe a friend to go along? That way you wouldnt have to try to chase 3 little ones alone.

See if there is an adult or an older cousin you could maybe take along to help.
