Ok, we're not going til August (meal plan) but I'll be calling in my ADR pretty soon. Here's the line up so far. I still need one more. Are there any here you would advise against? Which restaurant not listed would you consider a must? We haven't been to any and haven't been to Disney since '92. We have 3 kids (10, 10, & 12)

Ohana
Coral Reef
Whispering Canyon Cafe
Boma
Teppan Edo
50's Primetime Cafe

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Cape May Cafe is great. Sci Fi dine in Theater has a great atmosphere but the food is just OK

Ohana Never done, on our list for next trip
Coral Reefbeen years, but we enjoyed
Whispering Canyon Cafewon't be going back...did not like at all; others love itBoma
Teppan Edonever done
50's Primetime Cafeanother that we have not done in years, but always enjoyed the "comfort" food and the antics

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Other possibilities would be Crystal Palace for breakfast, Sci-Fi, LeCellier

I would avoid Whispering Canyon. Or at least their skillet.

I would do Hollywood and Vine for dinner. The food was good and the atmosphere felt like a diner.

Tusker House was really good too. Since you are doing Boma, it may be a repeat.

I liked Tutto Italia, but it would not be worth it if you aren't on the DDP.

I cannot wait to go back and try some more restaurants.

love WCC, great food and atmosphere.

would they like a character buffet? Crystal Palace or 1900 Park Fare?

we love coral reef, too!

Tutto Italia sounds like something my kids would enjoy but where does it fall on the casual<>formal scale?

If I try to work in a Fantasmic package in to the plan, can we do it with our Disney Dining Plan? Is there an additional cost? If it's possible, what time should the reservations be? What time does the show start? Which "package" restaurant would you recommend?

How about Chef Mickeys?

My whole family LOVED the dinner w/ Cinderella & the stepfamily at 1900 Park Fare. The 2 evil stepsisters bickered the whole time (over who was prettier and who was smarter.) And the evil stepmother was absolutely hilarious!!!!

I agree about WCC...the skillet was awful (DH got sick on it).

Disagree about H&V--the other Disney restaurant we will never step foot in again (we made the mistake of giving it two tries...the second was worse than the first).

Mama Melrose is a 1 TS credit resturant for Fantasmic Pkg. that I would recommend. There is no extra cost and with the Pkg. you get an appetizer even if you have the Basic Dining Plan. The reservations are as early as 3:40 at that resturant. I would go early so you don't feel rushed. You will receive a voucher to get into the show which tells you to arrive 45 minutes before the show begins. I like the package because you don't have to stand in line.

I'd advise against Whispering Canyon; unless you're staying at WL its really not worth the trip, IMHO. I'd take that TS credit, add the remaining one and make a ressie for Hoop De Doo! Great show, good food, the kids will like it! :thumbsup2

The Hoopty Do Revue is a must for us. We go every trip. It is 2 ts credits though

Ohana -- Excellent choice! Their dessert is to-die-for.
Coral Reef -- Planning to dine here myself in August. (I'm also on free dining. :) )
Whispering Canyon Cafe -- I didn't hate it or love it. Not worth it unless you really want to see the WL (which is worth seeing at least once) or you're staying at the WL.
Boma -- Had a bad experience there in 2002, but have read enough good reviews to give it another chance. Every place has a bad night now and again. :)
Teppan Edo -- On DDP, you get an entree and a dessert. Desserts do not appeal to me here, so we're going elsewhere. Namely, Chefs de France. We want to see Remy and creme brulee sounds WAY BETTER than chocolate ginger cake.
50's Primetime Cafe -- Neither the concept of being teased by the waitstaff nor the menu have ever appealed to me. We're planning on Cape May Cafe for dinner on the DHS PM EMH night of our trip. Going to try for the second showing of Fantasmic. I have my fingers crossed they'll still be doing 2 Fantasmic shows on PM EMH nights in August. The boat ride to CMC from DHS is so pleasant, and the food at CMC is usually very good.

Chef Mickey's dinner is a must-do for us every trip. We're also very fond of 1900 Park Fare (only been for breakfast--planning dinner there next trip). The monorail resort's AYCE's are very good IMO.

Thanks for all the great advice.

I'm still on the fence about the Whispering Canyon Cafe and am now seriously considering Mama Melrose's, Crystal Palace, Hoop Dee Doo Revue, and the Cape May cafe. Any more guidance would be very welcome.
Thanks

Crystal Palace is really nice. 1900 Park Fair, Biergarten, Whispering Canyon, Sci Fi, Prime Time are also fun.

I would go get the unoffical guide to wdw. This book has a whole section on just food in and out of the world. I find it to be good tool. It will give all the ins and outs of each resturant and what they have to eat the type of characters, and so on. Plus there is alot of other good info in it. It is a must for me. I get a copy every year we go. I also have my girls dw and 2 dd go through and pick out the palces they want to eat. Our every year places to eat is hoopty doo. they girls like chef mickey. My love the rose and crown and we set this up to watch the fire works at epcot. We love to go spend a day in a park like ak or dhs then take a break and spend the eve in epcot and a nice meal.
