We leave Sat. morning out of Austin to Orlando. We are flying Delta on a jet (Embraer? 2 seats on one side, one on the other) and I wanted to double check that you can gate check strollers on these smaller planes. Also, will we be boarding the way you normally do on a larger plane or do you always board by walking out to the plane and walking up some steps?

Most likely you will be walking out to the plane. Yes you can still gate check your stroller.

I've flown these jets on Delta and always had to walk out to the plane. They have never been tall enough to reach the normal gates. You shouldn't have any problems gate-checking the stroller. I'd mention this to the gate agent when you arrive. Sometimes they will give you a gate check tag early; others make you wait until you start boarding.

Just did it a few weeks ago on a small Delta jet and both times I gate checked the stroller right before we walked up the stairs to the plane. No problem at all. It was waiting right at the bottom of the stairs when we got off.
