Please help...I think we made a mistake!!

Hi everyone, it has been a while since we have posted on this board. My husband and I just finished watching the Disney Cruiseline video we received in the mail today. After seeing Castaway Cay and the beautiful ship, we both sighed and looked at one another with confusion in our eyes.....

You see, I think we may have made a mistake....my husband and I decided to book RCCL's Radiance of the Seas for January, 2004.
We booked about three months ago and being the avid planner I am, have tried to price hotels, airline tickets etc. To my dismay, Ft. Lauderdale, where the Radiance will be docked, is much more expensive in January in regards to hotels, car rentals and such.
Although there have been some obstacles, I have just tried to shop around and wait for better prices.

After watching the DCL video tonight , my husband and I both were thinking the same thing....were we really sure we wanted to go with RCCL? The reason we switched was we were mainly worried if there would be enough to keep two adults with no children busy for 7 days.. Also we have heard wonderful things about RCCL's ships and service.

Now we are at a "crossroads", if you will!! Should we keep the reservation with RCCL or come back to Disney?? My heart tells me Disney, but my husband says...should we try something different?? Both ships are lovely, with virtually the same itinerary (Eastern Carribean, with one extra stop in San Juan for the Radiance), and the price of RCCL is $500.00 more than DCL. We have a great loyalty to Disney and have been spoiled by the high level of service we have received on previous cruises. Not to mention the "perk" of being able to extend your vacation at WDW after the cruise!!

Does anyone have any suggestions?? Would love to hear your thoughts!! Thanks for your time!!

No question about it - take the Disney cruise! Don't worry about not having enough to do - the time will fly by so fast you'll wonder why you even worried about it.

I agree - take Disney. If you had said that DCL was more expensive than I might say try RCCL as they are a great line. My DH and I have no kids and we leave for our 5th DCL cruise in 2 weeks. Barb and Tony have no kids and have been on over 30. There is plenty to keep adults busy!

RCCL my have San Juan - but DCL has Castaway Cay - which in my opinion is heaven on earth!

Enjoy no matter which ship you choose!

I am always partial to Disney. But you can always look at the size of the stateroom on each ship and if you will be able to get the verandah on both. I did some of the spa services on Disney and I find it hard to believe that any ship is better in that regard. They also have the adult only pool on Disney. You may want to check the other ship to see if they have a pool dedicated to adults only. Also don't forget the free ice cream on Disney. Like I said I am partial to Disney but check into these other things and see what is best for you. It would be ashame to spend all that money on the other cruise only to find out that you missed out on a magical experience. Good Luck and let us know what you decided.

Let me start by saying we love Disney. In the past 2 years we have gone on the Wonder - 3 days, Magic - 7 days and spend 8 days at the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge and 7 days at the Boardwalk. We own DVC and love a Disney vacation.

That being said, we have also gone on 4 RCCL Cruises in the past 8 years, and took the Radiance to Alaska in the summer 2001. The beauty of the ship can not be compared to any other, even within the RCCL family of ships.

We like a RCCL cruise just a little more than Disney. We felt the service was the same as Disney, and the shows were better. The show for late seating is after dinner, on Disney it is before. I didnt like that because we had to get ready for dinner so early if we wanted to catch the show. I like eating late, going to the show to relax and digest dinner, then stopping in the casino.

Our teenager still likes Disney better than RCCL, they even have great programs for Teens.

The spa and health club on RCCL is nicer than Disney. More equipment, larger health club.

We thought the food was better on RCCL, with a greater variety.

The dress on Disney was a little more casual than on RCCL. My husband liked that!

Hope some of my opinions help. You really can't go wrong with either.

Lisa and Ben - I think you've already made your minds up and I think Disney is the right choice. We sailed with 2 DSs last year and DW and I enjoyed it so much, we're going back w/o kids this year (they'll be with their dad for two weeks this summer). The $ difference is secondary to me but obviously DCL would be the better deal from what you said...

Wow, now that's something new! I've never heard that before. It's always been the opposite. If you're set on RCCL, I'd check the prices continually....
