Please Help! DH agreed to listen to a timeshare spiel.

Points well taken!

I don't know what we will do. I hate to just eat the $110; but that could be cheaper in the long run depending on what airfare runs.

Who knows maybe we will just go and listen. Currently have the WL booked to follow our time at the Hilton. That is providing the dates there were available. We have yet to schedule our timeshare spiel with them. Hopefully we can stand firm and say no! We were just going to listen to the people about the hot tub (spa) and, well, guess what is out in our back yard!

Truthfully, I have been considering DVC; but want to know more about it to see if it would be a wise investment for us. I like the flexibility of travel dates. I don't think I could ever be locked into when I had to take vacation. It certainly wouldn't work with dh job.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes and advise! It's good to look at things from all angles! Since we have always said no Thanks in the past this is all new to me. They probably could have sold dh the moon that day! He has been working a lot of long hours; and I am sure the idea of a vacation was too good to pass up!

If you are interested in DVC talk to someone while you are at WL. There is no pressure sales. We bought in a couple of years ago and love it. We have gone for just a long weekend at Hilton Head a couple of times. There is no certain week every year nor do you have to take a whole week at the time.

We have sat through a couple of those other time share speils too. They are very hard sell-- Just Say No!

Assuming that your husband is 18 or over, his consent to the charge means you do not have a valid dispute for the charge on your credit card. Since he did not buy the property, no cooling-off period laws would have been triggered. He only authorized the charge for the "vacation" offer which, as either an owner or authorized user of the credit card, he is allowed to do. By the way, it is the usual practice of telemarketers to record the portion of the call when the consent is provided.

With the Hilton Grand Vacation Club, these offers are usually a decent deal provided you make your reservations IAW the rules for the program. Just make sure that if you go, you do attend the presentation or they will have the right to charge you the rack rate for the accomodations. As for not buying, make sure you mention that you can buy HGVC timeshares for about 50% or less than the Hilton price via the resale market (they don't have a buyback clause like DVC).
