The day we get to DW (woo woooooo!) it will be around 2:00, so we don't plan on going to the parks that day. It will be my boyfriends first trip, so I want to make a good impression. Any good ideas on where to take him besides a park?

How about the Boardwalk?
You could have dinner at one of the restaurants there(or any resort really). Then you could have a few drinks at ESPN(sports fans?), or Jellyrolls for some dueling piano fun. You could take a romantic stroll along the Boardwalk, or even down the path to MGM(we did this in order to catch a bus back to our resort and it was a nice walk).

Our last trip we (DH & I) went to dinner at 'Ohanas and then did the monorail loop. We stopped for drinks at all the monorail resorts (Poly, GF & Contemporary). We went in early December so it was fun to see all the decorations, but even without that it was fun to see all the different resorts. It really got us in the Disney spirit! We enjoyed it so much we're doing it next trip too!:bounce:

We also enjoy doing the momorail loop. It's a fun intro to Disney. Maybe the boardwalk area that evening.

I 2nd the vote for dinner at Ohanas and the monorail loop. If you time it right you can get back to the Poly in time to watch the fireworks over MK [if fireworks are scheduled for that night] from the beach at the Poly.
They do require that you be a Poly quest to use the beach chairs or hammocks but if there are seats available I don't think that would be a big problem.

Or you could do the loop first and then go to Ohana to eat and watch the fireworks thru the windows.

The monorail loop / dinner at O'hana is exactly what my boyfriend and I are going to do our first night there as well. We don't land until 4, so we didn't want to go to the parks. O'hana's is an amazing meal and its fun to ride around on the monorail for a bit

I can't argue with the Ohana's and monorail loop suggestion. That's an excellant choice! Just thinking about it makes me want to book a vacation!

Where are you staying?

Depending on where you stay, I would suggest just sitting by the pool and unwinding for a little while. Then go to Ohana's and watch the MK fireworks. Make sure to get a Priority Seating reservation just in case. Find out when the fireworks start and plan a good hour or so before for dinner.

As an alternative, I would suggest a round of golf at Fantasia Gardens then going over to Jelly Rolls for some drinks at this great dueling piano/sing-along bar.

Interesting how many minds thought of Ohana and the monorail loop . . . my thoughts exactly!!

Ask to ride with the driver for a really good view. I think I'd make PS for Ohana, then take the monorail loop. If you still have time before the Electrical Water Pageant, you could browse the shops at the Poly, GF, or Contemporary.

Then just stroll down to the beach to watch the show. It's better seen from the beach than from Ohana because you're closer and you can also hear the music better.

For the first night of our honeymoon we went to the GF for dinner. It was the character dinner at 1900 Park Fare which was awesome. It sure got us in the Disney mood!

After that we went and got our honeymoon ears from Sandy Cove and shopped around the GF than hopped on the monorail to tour the Poly and Contemporary resorts. The conductor let us sit up front when he saw our honeymoon ears!!

After doing the monorail loop we got off again at the GF and went to sit on the beach and watch the Electrical Water Pagent. It was so romantic as we were the only ones on the beach!!

Than we drove back to ASMu for a late swim.

It was a great start to the honeymoon - and Glen's first taste of WDW!! (It was cool to see his first look of the castle from the monorail!!)

So, maxie, is he "sold" on WDW?? Sounds like you treated him to a wonderful first night!!

Not quite! He says we can only go every 4-5 years!!

But I talked him into doing DL next year as an alternative.. So we are getting a Disney fix of some kind!!

I'm expecting a baby this summer and told Glen I'm teaching the baby Disney as it's 2nd word so that me and the child can gang up on daddy and convince him to take us more often!!!:p :p

Thanks for all of the responses! I don't know what O'hanas is though. Where is it and what kind of food do they have? I made reservations at California Grill since I have never been there. Do you think I should change that to O'hanas? The monorail is an excellent idea.
Thanks guys! :)

Ohanas is in the Polynesian [on the monorail loop]

We love it here . . . great food, all-you-can-eat, but still sit-down service without having to serve yourself in a buffet line.

Yumm. . . makes me want pineapple with caramel dipping sauce right now!!! :)

OK, i will be the freak here and give you my 2 cents....monorail to mk, ferry to fw, and the hoop dee doo.

on our first ever trip i wanted to do something the night of our arrival to get the family in a WDW mood.

We were staying at the all stars, so we hopped a bus to the TTC. We took the monorail to MK (pure magic for us!!!)
We then took the ferry to FW (we are suckers for boats of anykind!) and had dinner at the Hoop Dee Doo. It was the PERFECT night. My DH was a skeptic about WDW up until that night. He gushed over how much he loved that place.

We now do that on our arrival night every trip. (We have made the experience even better by staying at FW - but then we are rustic kind of folks - yea - i know, we live in philly. A hicks gotta make a living!) It just ain't WDW without a good old fashioned Hoop Dee Doo. God we love that place!
