I am going to be in the world in mid Oct. Can someone convince me to pay for the halloween party and explain what it is.

We were in WDW for 6 nights over Columbus Day weekend in 2003. Although the daytime crowds were not horrifying, it was significantly busier than early Dec. or late Jan, when we usually visit WDW. We went to MNSSHP this time and I'm very glad we did. First of all, it was fun to be in MK, dressed in costume (DD was Esmerelda, I was a cross between Clopin and a mardi gras jester- gotta go with it!). Best of all, we didn't have to wait in any lines! DD is 10 and loves the mountains. We got to MK right around 7, when it opened for MNSSHP (not early early as so many suggest) and went right to Splash Mountain, where DD rode twice without waiting. BTMRR was closed. We watched the parade from the path that crosses in front of SM, and I felt it was only ho-hum. (I've since learned that this is one of the worst places from which to view this particular parade.) We went on lots of rides, with the Pooh ride having the "longest" wait, about 10 mins. DD wasn't very interested in trick-or-treating, but we did a little of it...it too was ho-hum. We were able to ride Buzz twice with no waiting, and at the end of the evening DD rode Space mountain 6 times in a row- as soon as she got off one round, she ran back thru the empty queing area and got on again! As far as being an "amazing" or "awesome" party, neither of us felt that, but it was worth every penny to get DD on the rides that usually have the longest lines, without any waiting! The later you can stay, the shorter the 'wait' (and I use the term very loosely!) will be. It IS kinda magical to be running thru MK after dark, too, and we have the family photo for our scrap book (although I personally look fit for the scrap pile in this photo!) I don't know if I'm convincing you or not, but if your kids are old enough to stay for the whole party, you'll save lots of time by going to MK during MNSSHP rather than going during the day. I'd definitely do it again, even though it's a separate 'hard' ticket (no park admission, just party admission). I think it was worth it.
