My goal this year is to get my kitchen remodeled. We have a designer lined up and thought that we had a contractor lined up but he ghosted us after we asked why his second bid was 17 grand more than the first one. We think we've found a new contractor. I'm meeting with him and the designer next week. Fingers crossed.

A more healthy diet is my goal. I have cut out most carbs and sugars and additives and I am progressing slowly to a more plant based diet. I started last August though so its not really about the New Year.

I'm going easy on myself this year because frankly just getting through it will be an accomplishment. My mom's cancer diagnosis and the looming task of having to clean out and deal with her house are enough to have my anxiety at all time highs, so I'm not heaping self-improvement pressure on top of it.

I did commit to going to the gym more often because DD13 wants to get back in the habit and what parent can say no to a kid who wants to be healthier? Losing the YMCA and her swim team to the pandemic has been hard on her (the Y still exists but is basically open bankers' hours so we can't get there, and the team hasn't restarted yet) so I'm dedicated to making this happen for her in hopes of her not losing confidence in her ability to keep up in the fall when she should be transitioning to high school swim.

Aside from that, I'm just hoping to check some things off my long-standing to-do list, read books already on my shelves and pass them on to make room for more, work on the house if circumstances dictate we can't travel so it doesn't feel like totally wasted time, continue the Great Decluttering that started with my son and both bonus sons moving out late last year, and not neglect taking care of myself while I'm taking care of everyone else (which for me means carving out time for reading, making music, and getting out in nature regularly once the weather warms up). Which is all basically to say keeping my ordinary level of functioning happening. If I can manage that, it'll be a win.

This New Years Eve my family toasted each other and wished luck at the mile marker. I felt like maybe the 2020 into 2021, "2020 See Ya wishes," came off as a dare to fate so this year nothing, no resolutions or anything of the kind.

Focusing on as many small joys as possible, doing what I can when I can and adjusting as I need, full steam ahead.

Good luck! I've heard contracting anything is really difficult lately due to the increased costs of everything.
I really hope it happens. What kicked this off was the fact that our fridge doesn't work properly but we can't get the parts to fix it anymore. It's built-in but we can't find a fridge that fits in the hole. To make a fridge fit, we have to do some major cabinet work. We then figured that if we're doing that, we might as well fix everything else that's frustrating about the kitchen such as replacing the faucet that is impossible to clean, putting in a dishwasher that actually cleans dishes, ripping out the trash compactor that is impossible to open, etc.
