Megan's choir teacher came up with the idea to raise $$ to buy instruments and music for the BeLikeBrit kids
she wants me to say something and share a bit of our story, which will be tough for me, I don't like speaking in front of people...but will do my best!
please look it over and let me know if it too much, not enough, too wordy...
thanks!!!

Welcome and thank you to Ms. Hyman for coming up with the idea to help raise funds for Be Like Brit a wonderful home to the children of Haiti, to start a music program for the children living there.
My name is Lisa Birch and this is my daughter Megan, we lost my husband and Megans daddy Jim in the earthquake which hit Haiti January 12, 2010 at the Hotel Montana.
Through our pain, we were blessed to become friends with the Gengel family who also lost their daughter Britney in the earthquake. I had been looking for something to help our healing process and to make a difference in Haiti in Jims memory, when I heard that they were starting fundraising to build a home for 66 children in Britneys memory.
Britney was a remarkable young woman and at the age of 19 was already making a difference in the world. Megan and I are doing what we can to help make her dream of helping these children happen.
Be Like Brit was dedicated on January 5th of this year, we were so touched to be a part of the dedication and see the beauty and heartache in Haiti.
Currently they have 31 children in place, between the ages of 3 10, all are attending school, eating healthy meals, receiving medical care and emotional support in a loving and safe environment. Bringing music into their lives will make a joyful and happy noise in their world.
If you would like more information on how to support BeLikeBrit or sponsor a child, please go to their website BeLikeBrit.org.
Thank you for any donation you can make tonight, it will be put to a wonderful cause and greatly appreciated by us, the Gengel family and of course the beautiful children of BeLikeBrit.
Thank you again to Ms. Hyman for all her support and to our kids here at Eisenhower for a great night of entertainment!
