Okay, here's what I am going to do...if you all think it's right.

1) Make my room only reservations using CRO, asking for the AAA price.

2) Buy my tickets through local AAA (5 of the 6 needed)

3) When AP discounts become available, call and get better rate.

4) Buy AP ticket for self.

5) Buy DDE.

6) If I can't get the AP discount rate, go ahead and buy self the parkhopper.

Am I handling this correctly?

Sounds about right...just make sure the difference in the price of your hotel justifies you purchasing the AP.

Last year, we went for 7 nights and stayed at Pop Century in late May. I was able to get a rate of $69 per night using a Disney Visa code. I think the AP code was $59 per night. I would have had to pay close to $200 more for an AP over my Park Hopper tickets....but, I would have only saved $70+tax total.....so, it wasn't worth it to me at the time.

I'm sure you already know this...just wanted to throw it out there.

Check the other ticketbrokers' prices before going with AAA. You may be able to get a better price by going thru Ticketmania or MapleLeaf. Otherwise, you plan is pretty much what I would do. Keep in mind what speedyf said about running the numbers thru on the AP w/room discount vs. the cost of just a regular pass. The savings may not be as steep as you thought they would be.

I'm glad you asked this question. When justifying the cost of the AP, how do you figure the discount you will receive by also buying the dining card? What I mean by this is how many restaurants within WDW will give a discount?
