Hi All!
I don't remember what the protocol is for this. I am planning a 4 nighter in July.....Sun-Thurs. I only have enough points for 3 of the nights. I would be interested in paying cash for the last night....my question is if booking through MS are you GUARANTEED not to have to switch rooms ?? Sorry for the question as I 'm sure I have read the answer to this in the past.

I do need a two bedroom and I guess my other option would be just to go a head and book 2 studios ( which I have enough points for ) but we would really like the 2-bedroom for this trip.

Any other help or suggestions would be appreciated !

Thanks! :sunny:

I just added a member cash night to my May OKW reservation last week. They will link the reservations so you don't have to move, it will be like one stay. There are exceptions to this - BWV boardwalk views and BCV 2 bedrooms w/2 queens are not eligible for cash reservations. Cash reservations are only offered if they expect the room not to be needed for points reservations. It's easier for Friday and Saturday because less members book those nights. If you are looking for a weeknight, you may want to rent points and have them transferred into your account. My OKW reservation was 20 points weeknights and 48 points weekend. I booked Saturday on cash and then Sun-Thurs on points. The cash night was $329 incl tax. It wouldn't make sense to pay that for a weeknight, you could rent 20 points for $200.

I just wanted to say, be sure to check with the front desk
when you check in and tell them the reservations are linked and you do not wish to change rooms. I posted last November about my fiasco. We had a points reservation for 7 nights and cash for the 8th night. They told me they were linked upon check-in and had my check-out date correct. But on our last day, we came back to the room for a break and here come in strangers with a room key. The system had automatically checked us out of our points reservation and switched us to another room without us even physically being there. It pretty much ruined our last day of vacation since it took us hours to straighten everything out. So just check, double check and triple check so you are safe. Have a great trip!

That is exactly what I was afraid of! Anyone else with similar experiences with the points/cash ressie either good or bad ??

We will be staying at VWL in a few weeks  and we were also shy points for one night in a two bedroom. We were able to rent points, have them transferred to our account, and it was all went so smooth and quick!! It was much cheaper ($286 vs. $600 discounted DVC rate). I strongly recommend you check out the rent board. It is well worth it! I will definitely rent points from another member if we are ever short again. Good Luck!

We've ahd this happen at DVC and otherwise even during out stay. But as long as your cash night is in the same type unit as your points, you should be OK. Do check and remind them when you check in though. Just remember that a lockoff 2 BR and dedicated are not the same unit type.

We had a mixed cash & points ressie last Sept./Oct. for a stay at BCV's...We paid cash for the weekends since the points are so much higher and didn't want to have to move. We stayed for a little over a week and had Fri. night on points (cash wasn't available the first Fri. night) then cash w/member discount for Sat. night and then points again Sun.-Thurs. nights and then cash w/member discount again for Friday night. We had them all linked, didn't have to move, check out and back in or get new keys...it all went pretty flawlessly. I did ask about everything being linked at check in since we had like 3 or 4 different confirmation papers for all the ressies but the CM did look at the computer and assured me everything was linked...maybe the person who had been automatically checked out of the points stay had both ressies but they were never linked? Hopefully the CM who checks you in will be able to tell for sure upon check in.

We are paying cash again for out Sat.night and Fri. night stay w/member discount surrounding our upcoming VB points stay and hopefully won't have any problems again.

I did do it 2 years ago. I booked Friday & Saturday on member cash, then Sun-Thurs on points. It went flawlessly. When we checked in on Friday, they gave us keys and a parking permit all the way up to the following Friday like it was one reservation. Trash and Towel was Monday, day 4 of the combined reservation.

Last year I wanted the last night of our reservation on cash, we stayed Sunday to Friday nights. I decided to go with an AP rate for Friday night because it was cheaper and figured we could use housekeeping at the end of the week. It was in early May, I figured a Friday night would not be busy at OKW. They cannot link an AP reservation but had it noted when we checked in on Sunday. On Friday morning I went to the front desk and got new keys & parking permit (without member on them) and it was no problem.

Since you are looking for a weeknight, I would rent the points.
