I am looking for a place to eat before MVMCP. I was going to try to get Crystal Palace but my kids are not big Pooh fans and my DD5 didn't like it last time so I was thinking about the Plaza since we have never eaten there before.

on a scale of 1-5 (1 being low and 5 being high) how would you rank the food and atmosphere?

Also, are you able to see the Castle from there? If I made the ressie for the time they do the castle lighting would we be able to see it?

Thanks
Natalie

I give it a "strong" 4. When we were there in April it was tarped and you were not able to see the Castle, but we did see it prior. I would hope that the construction will be done prior to your trip.

We go every year prior to MNSSHP and as a treat other times of the year if we go.

I prefer CP over Plaza, but we did a dinner there once & thought it was really, really good. It is very quaint & there are lots of sandwiches to choose from. The bit hit there are the icecream desserts - superb!

P.S. I'd give it a strong 4 also, I thought they did a nice job. We were indoors, you could not see the castle. You'd have to take your chances outside & that would be a maybe depending on the tarp &/or umbrellas. What we liked about going in was sitting in the airconditioning - it was summer time.

5. 5. 5.

I'm not sure about seeing the castle. But by far it is a must do for me. The sandwiches are to die for. Plus, most people don't know it's there, so it's not packed beyond capacity and you're not rushed.

I agree with the prior posters -- nice atmosphere and good, lighter food selections. It's mostly burgers, sandwiches and salads but we always find it to be a nice quiet place to eat and chill out on an otherwise hectic park day. The milkshakes are wonderful!

If you don't mind not eating in the MK, I would also recommend the Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary. It's counter service, but has a pretty big menu and fairly efficient touchscreen ordering system. We went last week and enjoyed our food (Angus Burger, Grilled Beef Flatbread and Kid's Pizza) while watching the monorails go by overhead.

We love The Plaza. The sandwiches are excellent, the steak fries are the best and the desserts are CRAZY good. Our kids loved their meals there. DD7 was dying for a *real* PB&J sandwich. The Plaza had a homemade one (no uncrustable:worship:) and it was in the shape of Mickey. :lovestruc

It's a nice option for soups and sandwiches. The menu is extremely small.

We also love the Plaza. I'd give it a 4 as well. The food is yummy, especially the desserts, so save room! ::MinnieMo

We were there in January and were seated in a side room. It looked like a sun room and you *could* see the castle from there. It was lovely.

We really enjoyed the Plaza. The food was good. My 9yo declared it "the second best kids meal of the trip." (LeCellier got top prize because he got steak.) The prices were also very reasonable (for a table service restaurant in a theme park.)

ETA: This isn't a very good picture, but this was the view from our table at the Plaza. The castle is there in the background (although it looks like I took a photo of some strangers! Oops!)

Oh good you can see the castle.. thanks for the picture

Can you sit outside cause it looks like there are tables outside?

We love The Plaza!! They have the best french fries and the milkshakes are awesome!!!! We are going for lunch on Dec 2nd!!!! Can't wait!!!!

The Plaza is a 5 for us. We have loved every meal we've ever had there. Not sure about seeing the castle, because my memory is horrible, but we love that restaurant. It's one of our must do's!

We love the Plaza. The food is always good. We're always full but the meals are light and don't slow you down for the rest of the day/night. Love the atmosphere. It's a must do each trip for us.

You can see the castle from most of the windows, but the best view is from the atrium. Request that at check-in if it's important. We have seen the castle from other tables inside as well.

For us it's definitely a high 4. It could be a 5, but my Reuben was not as good as last time, so I'm going to take away it's perfect score.

We really, really like it.

Thanks I will request the Atrium!!!

I would rate it at about a 2 1/2 or so, it was average. It was good but nothing special. There was construction, so no view as the windows were boarded up. The food is like diner food with a lot less choices. the atmosphere is like an old soda shop/diner but not overly done up. Our waiter wasn't that great as he didn't come around too much, and not just to us and the waitress at the other table looked like she wasn't too great either.

I would give it a 4.5 - nice atmosphere, great sandwiches, excellent service & fabulous desserts.

I give it a 2.5, maybe a 3. It is glorified CS - sandwiches. You pay more but they are not significantly better than most CS sandwiches, so we don't think it is worth it. The room is small and the wait can be long. The view of the castle is obstructed/blocked at best, but only if you are up near a window.
