Hi, don't know if this is in the right place but...

I really want to get a PSP when I visit orlando as they are much cheaper than over here but I don't know whether they are region free like the nintendo. I can either buy a PSP or a bunch of games for my DS.

Thanks In Advance:goodvibes

Just adding that, although I think UMD movies are regioned (not sure) I'm only really interested in the games and I know, if I want to charge it I will need an adapter

if you want to get one to play movies there region coded. But for games ect no problem uk games play in a usa psp.The charger is universal you just unpug the usa part and plug in a uk lead after transformer

Am I correct in thinking USA purchased games will work in a PSP purchased in the UK. My sons both had ones for birthdays last month and they want to buy some games when we go over in October, are they OK in saving up their pocket money to buy some games?

When are you going? There is a new one coming out this year.

The main details are:

- Slimmer redesign, but same internal hardware.
- LED screen delivering improved image. Without ghosting?
- Battery life upto 4 times longer.
- Still uses UMD but loads faster.
- 8gb of internal flash memory.
- New d-pad.
- Improved buttons and analogue nub/positioning?
- Around $170.
- August/September US Launch.

A very big price drop is expected on the current model.

Or get yourself a Nintendo DS lite. They're smashing! I had both and got bored of the sexy looking PSP in favour os the DS. And I'm not normally a Nintendo fan.

That's just typical, same thing happened when my sons had an X box. They are practically giving the old ones away now after we paid £199 + each for them and you can hardly get any games now!

So just to get this right if i buy a psp game or a DS game in the USA they will work on the british systems?

Donna

Not sure about PSP, think the games are okay, but the movies are locked.

I know DS games you can buy anywhere and play on any system.

Yep thats right, only the DVD's or UMD's what ever you want to call them will not work popcorn::

I am going in August (i have a countdown but not to worry) however, I like the fact that the current PSP is quite comfortable in my hands for a longer period of time. I already have a DS and am not really interested in the Lite as the original is too small to be comfortable as I can play for long periods of time( I know I shouldn't but I just love playing games too much, thus why I plan to learn to make them at Uni:thumbsup2 )

I also may buy some more DS games whilst I'm out there depending how much I spend on other things :P

The games are fine as mentioned before. The only thing you cannot do is play against another person with a psp with the same game if they have the British version. You both have to have the same country's game to play via wi fi.

How much are they in Orlando? Is there a big difference?
Price I have seen is about £30 difference.
Remember to add sales tax to US prices, inconveience of plugs, chance of import duty if stopped, will all functions work in UK? etc.
I dont think its worth it for the hassle, I would buy here and then he would have it for outbound flight.

I have all those tickers, photos and icons switched off. Don't want them attracting my boss! ;)

I would wait tbh, the RRP of the new one is lower than current model, so I would be expecting a big price drop on the PSP.

Excellent, may buy a psp game or two havent had one since GTA Vice City Stories, and mainly play on my DS now (tho i have an even cheaper, well, free, way of getting games for that, so no need for any over there!).

Cheers
