Playhouse Disney Chracter Meal @ H&V MGM

who's going to spend the amount of money character breakfasts cost on characters they don't know and couldn't care about?..
perhaps the under 5 market is that big? Sounds amazing to me that there will be enough people to pay the exhorbitant character meal prices to see these guys...

Sorry - just had a thought about the higher price! :teeth:

Maybe they're charging more for the adults as they realise most of the attendees will be under 5 and many of these will be under 3. Take into account that UNDER 3's DINE FREE! ;) this "increase" may cover the costs a little!

i just noticed we posted at the same time, with similar thoughts...
funny..

as for the free toddlers making up for the price increase, i thought the character meals were pretty darn expensive before any price increase...

Was looking forward to Toy Story too :guilty:

I for one think the meals are a very good deal
eat all you want and get time with your favourite chracters
and the photos and memories are priceless

You know what they say, "Great minds think alike!" :teeth:

I should've explained myself better  - I didn't mean that parents will gain due to what toddlers will eat (probably not much if their fave characters are around! :) ) but Disney will at least cover the cost of any little food they do eat by having the cost a bit dearer!

not been around much but was very shocked to see this..
we have 3 kids, all who love disney channel, but really would not be interested in this, i think they have wasted a brill occasion, when they could have done soooooo much more
tracy

Tink too, I like your reasoning :)

Are you a Disney marketeer in disguise? :teeth: ;)

Hopefully as Alan said above, Disney will resolve the copyright issues with Pixar in the future and we can get a Toy Story meal :)

I seriously wonder if Disney are losing the plot with many of their ventures at WDW. This is just another example of them not seeming to know what the public want and delivering a completely half-baked option. The limitations of this character meal are stupefying - not only does it rule out all over 6s, but many under 6s are still not familiar with these characters and the 3 and 4 year-olds are not the ones tugging at parents' sleeves asking to do character meals anyway - it is the 6-10-year-olds who drive this market. The steady increase in prices IS also having an affect, as many people here have noted, and people will simply not going on paying these ever-inflated prices for ordinary food and a handful of characters. When you can already see these characters in Playhouse Disney Live, why would you add them to a character meal nearby?? I am truly amazed.

But it seems symptomatic of recent events. The wholescale demolition of Pleasure Island seems to be going ahead without any real vision for what's going in there (while Disney are simply waiting and hoping for more outside companies to take a stake in it, so they can merely pick up the rent). We recently asked the WDW press office to fill us in on the PI picture having been there recently and seen a good 40% of it being taken down. Their answer? We don't currently know. (Mind you, they also told us they couldn't tell us what was happening with the Living Seas pavilion, when Al Weiss recently announced the The Seas With Nemo & Friends would be the new attraction there; Left Hand, meet Right Hand, please!).

Disney - and the other parks, who have all rushed to make their parking fee a monstrous $10 - must be very careful they don't squeeze people too hard in their ever-eager need to keep profits healthy (I suppose Disney have tp pay for the $100m Expedition Everest somehow). We definitely suspect the beginnings of a park backlash, with much better value to be found elsewhere.

I know I'm in the minority here but I was really excited to see a Playhouse Disney meal going in, what I was dissapointed about was the choice of characters. Little Einsteins are fantastic and they already had JoJo meeting guests, but where is Bear in the Big Blue House, Stanley, Rolie Polie Olie, etc. I asked my two (4 and 6) if this meal appealed to them and they said that they are too big to go, even though they watch on TV. The only one who would like this would be DS2 but hes not going in October :confused3 I agree that this is serving a limited market and a boys adventure meal would have been better with Tarzan  , Peter Pan, Hook, Aladdin, Abu, Genie, hercules etc. I'd like to say that the bookings will force Disney to change its mind but I reckon its going to be booked solid for a while, I know if DS2 was going I would be very excited to book it.

Am actually interested in this meal - but not as much as if it had been Toy Story.

Can anyone tell me if it is included on the Dining Plan? :confused3 Kept 1TS credit back each for the Toy Story meal, but will be happy to do this instead.

my daughter is 4, and does not even watch play house disney, so this is not one I would choose not to book.

I think they could have chosen better characters for this one, Josh would have liked Toy Story or Bear In The Big Blue House.

I do agree with you all on Jojo and Goliath, but I am saying it now...Little Einsteins is going to be HUGE!! My kids (5 and 4)are obsessed with that show...and for months now ds is Leo, dd is Annie, I am June and the baby is Quincy. Every time we get in the car, we are getting in rocket!

And I LOVE the fact that my kids are going around humming classical music all day instead of some of the other tunes. And my ds (4) is using words like belissimo and crescendo..."mom, that loud music is a crescendo!"

Don't get me wrong...our family LOVES toy story, Bear, etc., and would like to see Toy Story characters too.

But mark my words...Little Einsteins is going to be HUGE :bounce:
