Play N Dine at Hollywood & Vine with the Playhouse Disney Pals

Meh...

I have a soon to be 5yr old (DS) and a soon to be 2 yr old (DD), neither of whom are remotely interested in JoJo's circus or Little Einsteins. Oh well, less money for us to spend!

When we went to MGM last year my kids loved seeing JoJo and Goliath, so I know the will really enjoy a character meal with them.

Add us to the list of those dissappointed with this new breakfast. We were really looking forward to "Breakfast and Beyond". My children will be turning 7 & 8 during our next trip and they have no interest in this new meal.

I do have to say that I feel that my children were thrilled as toddlers going to Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's, Donald's & O'hana's every visit since they were babies. They even ate at the old H&V character meal in 2002. I really did not feel there was not anything geared towards them.

For us, since we usually try to do one character meal a day, we will get to keep our $100 and spend around $15 that morning at the WL food court.

I am happy for those that are happy about the new meal, but I feel Disney really missed the mark on this one. Also, as someone prevously posted, the target market for this group would be eating free.

Hmmm I was told by a CM that a meal like the Pixar one "could be" in the works..... he said around November they may have something else to offer in dining
Now my dilema for this trip- I have a 12, 8, 3,1 year old- so the 3 year old is who this meal is geared at. And that is great but a Toy Story meal would have worked for my 12,8,and 3... This is something I think Disney doesn't realize....by being so narrow minded they are limiting their $$ opportunities. Because what will happen now is maybe one parent will take the 3 year old to the breakfast while everyone else rides RNR and the TOT. So they are losing out on the $$ for the rest of my family. Similar to the Princess meals...not all girls are into Princess stuff.... and surprise neither are most boys.....so you eliminate at least 50% off your potential audience.
Come up with something for the entire family... Like a little Jack Sparrow for Mommy!

Got to tell ya, don't have a clue who these "characters" are. Even if they stuck with the tried and true Disney Pals, at least my older kid would recognize them...no way I'm I paying for a $22 breakfast to see some sort of unknown creature in a suit. Big disappointment.

Well, I just made my ADR for 8am breakfast. I have two toddlers and DD loves Little Einstiens. However, I do agree that for our next trip, we would probably not attend this character meal. Both DD & DS would love a Toy Story meal (not to mention DH would too...) Hopefully, this will happen...

That being said, I am looking forward to being inside MGM before opening so that right after breakfast, I will right there to ride ToT & RNRC using parent swap!!!!

We are booked for Sept. 30th for this meal. DS loves Jo Jo and Little Einsteins, so he's going to have a blast.

I have seen several posts on this thread about kids (and parents) being really "bummed" or "disappointed" because this character meal isn't what they thought it would be.

I guess my question is.....why would you hype something to your kids that was only a rumor? There are so many rumors that fly around about WDW, including meals, shows, rides, and anything else you can think of. 95% of them either turn out to be completely false, or something that wasn't expected (like this character meal). Hyping something to your kids that is only a rumor is almost guaranteeing that you are going to have to deal with a very disappointed child at some point. Children face enough disappointment in the real world....they shouldn't have to deal with disappointment over a Disney trip.....

My daughter loves Little Einsteins & JoJo's Circus....we're looking forward to trying this in September. I already have our ADR!

First, let me say that my 3yr old, 4 yr on our next trip, is excited about this character meal. I have a 8 1/2 yr old who doesn't mind watching Little Einsteins with her brother, so I don't think she'll be too upset it's not geared for her age. BUT we would have loved to have seen Pixar characters or villians along with many others here. If they add another meal that will just be a plus for us! :thumbsup2

So with that said... ;)

This morning I made an ADR for Oct 2nd for the new H & V character breakfast, I took a late sitting at 11:10am. Lunch starts at 11:40, so I'm guessing we will get to partake of breakfast and lunch. DH thinks this is awesome!! :teeth:

I was read the list of food/menu items for both B & L.
Both are American Fare Buffet. I couldn't write as fast as they were talking, but here's what I got.
Breakfast includes: seasonal fruit, yogurt, scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, Mickey waffles, biscuits and gravy, potatos, pastries...and there was more.
Lunch includes: salads, deli meats and cheese, variety of breads/rolls, pot roast, chicken, some other meat dish, veggies, potatos, desserts.....and there was more.
Again I couldn't write fast enough!! :teeth:

Hope this helps!! :)

Ok, as a mother of young children I disagree with most everyone else so far.

I think it is great. We go in May, and not back again until Jan. However if it is indeed still there in Jan we will be there!

MGM isn't really very good for the young set. Sure playhouse Disney is nice, but that is about it (HISAP and Lilttle mermaid) but that isn't too much for a whole park.

I think it is agreat. :cool1: We have been wanting L.E at MGM for a while. :goodvibes It would be nice to have Bear too though. ;)
I too am so happy to hear about this character meal!!! I had just called Disney dining to change our ressies from a party of 6 to 7 and FLO told me about the new character bkfst. with Jojo and June and Leo from Einsteins..perfect for my 2 year old!!! We got in the first day they opened..but, I wasn't paying attention and notice it is for lunch too.. I think I should change my ressie to lunch..my 11 year old won't eat from a bkfst. buffet..does anyone know what kind of food they would serve for lunch??

I know my DS would absolutely love this character meal. He likes JoJo and Goliath and absolutely adores the Little Einsteins, but I know we won't do it because we really have little else to do at MGM. A character meal, Playhouse Disney and meeting a few characters is about all that would be there for us. If Disney is looking to provide a draw for the younger kids they should have more attractions for them. If not, they should have gone with different characters for the meal.

I am thrilled that they have added the Play and Dine with Jojo and The Little Einstiens!! DD will be 3. She loves Jojo and Gollliath. I am so happy she will have the opportunity to interact with them. DS who is a special needs child will also enjoy seeing them.
I can see the point of many of you about not having enough for the 6-12 crowd. There is a void in "boy character dining "I think a Toy Story Breakfast would have been great also. It would have been more family friendly as it would appeal to a bigger age bracket.
I really don't like MGM (sorry, it is my least favorite park). Our family is a bit different from most (DD 14, DD 2, Special Needs DS 16, Me=big ride chicken and DH = loves all rides). MGM just always seemed to be the place we can never find anything to enjoy together.. .
I am sure older DD will be horrified to hear she is going to dine with Jojo and Leo and will tell all her friends how"dumb and babyish" we are being by making her go BUT....she wills have the biggest ear to ear smile when her little sister and big brother are standing with their mouths open in awe when the characters come to the table. She is the first one with the camera and autograph book ready for her siblings.
Yeah for Jojo, Golliath, Leo and June we will be seeing you in December!!!

Really? I thought MGM was many kids favorite after MK. :confused3 DD loves it there. Most of her favorite characters are there (pixar, playhouse disney, power rangers) the parade is her favorite, Playhouse Disney Show, Car Stunt Show (4yr old dd loves this :rotfl: ) Fantasmic, Beauty and the Beast show, Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground, Muppets 3D, Little Mermaid show, Indiana Jones plus she is guaranteed a mickey ice cream bar when DH and I take turns on RnRC and ToT. Plus she loves Narnia so she is excited about that now too :cool1:

I thought MGM was geared more towards kids then adults.

MGM was definitely my DS' least favorite park. He did like the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground, but he isn't an adventurous kids so Indiana Jones we had to leave after a minute or two, Little Mermaid he found too loud, Muppets 3D, etc. He loved Animal Kingdom and Epcot actually. But to me MGM is more of an older kid/adult place with ToT, Rock-n-Roller coaster, etc.

We are looking forward to our trip. I have lots of character meals planned, Chef Mickey's, Liberty tree Tavern, Breakfastaurus, and Akershus - Princess storybook. We are also eatting at Hollywood Vine & Dine (Fantasmic Dinner), Rainforest Cafe, Teppanyaki, Hoop Dee Doo Revue and finally Narcoosse's.
I was hoping for a Toy Story meal for my kids (boy 4, and a girl 7). But I guess that's not happening. I'm debating about Little Einstein's. My son loves the show and music, and my daughter will put up with it. But I also feel I already have alot planned. Are they other places too? I was told no problem with AR yet for first week of July. Also told the food is like CP (stated above).

I will be honest, I am so excited I can hardly stand it. My DD thinks that the Einsteins are just all that and a bag of chips as they used to say. Between them and JoJo she will be so excited. If they could bring in Bear she would be in Character Nirvana.I am so happy Disney has done this and sent them an email letting them know how happy I am !!

I LOVE IT!....and I could relate to what you're saying.

All we have to do is begin singing the theme song to Little Einsteins and it brings Amelia into a fit of smiles, jumping and laughing!
