Chapter One-Village People Going to Disney World!

In 40 days, we will begin our dream trip to the Animal Kingdom Lodge- Club Level for 5 nights and 6 very full days. We decided to do Platinum plan so we could do all those things we always wanted to do and some of the things we never really knew existed.
So let me introduce you to the gang. Who are we you might ask? We are the Village People.

ymca.jpg

Ok, perhaps not but if we were you could see what we would have looked like.

I am Susan and I am the ring leader of this here trip (said in my very most southern accent). I am 42… but I am continually amazed that I don’t feel that old. I guess Disney does a wonderful job of being that fountain of youth that everyone is wasting their money traveling to find. If they had the Dis, they would know you just plan another Disney trip to get that youth flowing through your veins. (I do believe in Fairies…I do!)

Next into the ring is my DP, Mary. She had been a visitor to Disney prior to me but didn’t appreciate it quite as much as she now does. We have never gone to the World together although we have been together for 9 years. (GASP!) We have gone on two very wonderful Disney Cruises and she loved every minute of them! By our 2nd cruise I had found the Dis and so planning became a bit more obsessive…I admit it... And then she was a bit freaked as people she didn’t know would say hello (we all wore lime green bracelets to identify us as the Dis.. we had Dis meets and played tag. )

Next into the ring with some type of tripping or falling motion and possibly riding his unicycle if he ever masters it completely (he is very clumsy), my oldest DS, Tyler. He loves everything Disney. He is 16 and will turn 17 on this trip. He has been raised in Disney as he was born in Jacksonville and we kept Annual Passes for years. He loves so much about Disney it is like they created Disney just for him. He is an animal conservationist and does hope to one day become a zoologist if he can get through all that school. He also is a Jack Skellington fan and loves everything Halloween. One more passion of his is movie making, watching, editing, and memorabilia. So put him in Disney and you can leave him there for forevermore. Not even counting the fact that he is a teenager and all that food… So we are blaming this trip on his birthday of a lifetime.

Last into the ring, is my DS, Trevor. He is 12 and unfortunately cannot even remember a whole memory of Disney. He is my true reason for this trip. How could all of those wonderful Disney memories with his cousins and brother be completely lost? I somehow think that this trip will wake up a few of his own memories and he will be able to compile those with the pictures we have and remember that his mother was the very best mother in the whole wide world. (At least till he is old enough to watch Jerry Springer or one of those shows and think that he should blame me even for his acne that hasn’t even begun to happen yet.) He is a Stitch fan and loved our Disney Cruises in the extreme. However, he preferred his little group of kids to our group of family and therefore is not sure that he is all for this family trip. How could we possibly be more fun than 200 children on a cruise ship? (I hear you chanting Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!)

Now that you know the clowns… I am very glad I didn’t begin this PTR before because the contestants of this game show has changed so often that I wasn’t sure I loved this whole planning thing at all. But this is it. Let the Show Begin!

I have never been to Disney and been able to enjoy any of the resort restaurants before. So, this was my first attempt at ADR’s and I don’t have any favorites to help guide me. So what is a girl to do? Well, I read all of your pre-trip reports and trip reports and food reports and food porn reviews of course!

We wanted to experience as much as we could as we don’t know if we will do the Platinum Plan again or not. You never ever know for sure about anything if you think about it. So here it is… our ADR’s.

Most mornings we will have breakfast in the concierge lounge at AKL.

Arrive on Sunday, September 21st . Lunch at the Whispering Canyon Café! Dinner will be at the Yachtsman Steakhouse followed by our Illuminations Cruise.

Monday, the 22nd. Lunch at 50’s Prime Time Café. Dinner at Narcoossee’s then off to Fantasmic to claim our seats.

Tuesday, the 23rd, Tyler’s 17th birthday! Lunch at CRT and Dinner at Disney’s Spirit of Aloha! Finish this only to head over to MNSSHP! Our 1st time there!

Wednesday, the 24th. Breakfast at Chef Mickeys, lunch some CS in Epcot or at Mara if we head back to the resort after our tour, and dinner at Jiko.

Thursday, the 25th. Breakfast at Pizzafari, lunch at the Sci-Fi and dinner at the Hoop Dee Doo Revue.

Friday, the 26th. Our last day. Lunch at Le Cellier and Boma for dinner (thanks Johnsmom for the great idea).

Now I know this looks like a ton and a half of food…. In fact, it just might be. But I am traveling with a teenaged boy who does enjoy a bit of food and a picky eater who may go through two or three of these meals without eating a single thing. So on top of these restaurants, we do hope to make it to Casey’s, we want to try Figaro Fries, a dole whip, a turkey leg for the oldest, and of course, Zebra Domes as I have heard so much about all of these things. I also just read about a frozen Chai that I now must have.

Ok… So our plan is that we will only get one of something and all taste it or share it unless the previous meal was one that someone didn’t eat and then of course they will be hungry. But it should make for lots of food porn!

Now our family loves to laugh so I am very excited about 50’s and Whispering Canyon. I felt like those may have been created just for our family! I have always wanted to go to the Spirit of Aloha and just could never swing it before so that is on my list and not really on my families. But I won because I did the planning!!

Now I have a few pictures from our Cruise when we were eating... which again, was like all the time. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: My nephews were traveling with us as well and are not going on this trip with us. More on that saga on a later post or should I say an earlier post as it happened before? Oh no, now I am confused.

The first food we saw on the Magic..

foodddd.jpg

Pirate Night dinner.. complete with pirate ship waves but before the seasickness hit.

food1.jpg

Tea with my nephews who were old enough to join us. This was one of my favorite moments as we all had a great time that day!

food2.jpg

And finally, our last night in our cabin with cookies and milk and wearing our bathrobes. I took the picture. (you can thank me later for not posting pics of myself in a bathrobe.)

Great start! :goodvibes Since you are staying at the AKL, you must try Boma; delicious food at breakfast and dinner.

I wasn't sure if it would be similar to Jiko and if I was doubling things up. But both in one trip is a good choice? My thoughts were that we were going to be spending the whole last day at the parks and could come back and eat and leave our car there after checking out and just get in our car after one final good bye to AKL. So that is a good idea???

  :dance3: Hello!!! Glad you came over....

Now, seriously, tell me about these blue hawaiians.... I am very excited to see show and hope that the boys can at least pretend they like it if they don't. But a blue hawaiian might be a good thing to get Mary out of her shell! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rolleyes1 She likes sweet drinks that don't taste like alcohol...is it a match?

LOVED LOVED LOVED the cruise and only when my 12 year old said he had no recollection of Disney World did we screetch to a halt on booking another cruise with the same group we had just came off one with. It is time for the world... ;)

Now as for dressing up for MNSSHP... we had wondered if adults really dressed up or not and if they did is that not a little creepy with all those little kids?

Then we wondered if we could think of something (other than pirates although we did a good pirate pic on the cruise) that we could be together. So we went through all the Disney stories and couldn't really think of anything. I thought I would make a good Cinderella's Fairy Godmother but no one wanted to be Cinderella... so they would have to be mice? :rotfl2:

The other factor is that we do the Aloha at 5:15 and I am not sure how long it lasts but we think we will need to change and go so we need quick costumes and also we are not sure how hot it will be.....

Whatya think? Any ideas? Huh? Huh? Come on... I know you can think of something...:lmao:

We're doing the spirit of Aloha this year. Count me in as another one of those "sweet drinks that you can't taste the alcohol in" lovers. Guess I'll be ordering a blue Hawaiian. Thanks for the tip hlrababy.

They are so, so good!!!!! The last time we went, they sold them at a little bar outside the show area while you waited. But, you can actually order them from your seats, you just have to pay extra for them. They are sweet and really good!! I am like Mary, I love, love sweet drinks to where I can't taste the alcohol!:lmao:
They used to serve a drink at the show about 10 years ago called a tropical lava. They quit serving it around the last time we went in 2001 and it was soooooo good!! Of course, it was all you can drink. I had my personal best........6! I could barely see straight! Let's just say it made for a very interesting night...I got a hairline fracture in my little toe once we got back to our room!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Yeah, I am like you. I didn't really know if adults dressed up. We love to dress up!! We had thought about our superman, wonder woman, and supergirl, but I really didn't want to walk around in a short skirt! Plus, Chad's superman costume was custom made. The cape alone is 8 pounds!! So, I think what he wants to be is either Indiana Jones or Capt. Jack Sparrow. I am almost tempted to just have a cute shirt made with halloween designs on it. Who knows!
The luau last about 2 hours, so if you decide to dress up, I would just bring your costumes with you if they aren't alot of pieces and change in a bathroom in the Poly. Then you could store your other clothes in a locker at MK. Or heck, just wear them to the luau!!!

I do love the Fairy Godmother costume idea!
I had come up with maybe my daughter being Tinkerbell, Chad as Capt. Hook, and me as Wendy. I know my mother won't dress up, but I thought that would be cute! I just can't decide!!!!
