Platinum Blonde? No, Platinum Plan-My AKL PTR~Update 9/19 Tipping the Scale!

So we thought and thought and went to that great website my friend Dawn gave me. We tossed a few ideas around and a few cocktails down (just for that childlike imagination to kick in) and we came up with something that is totally and completely original. We will be the Mad Hatter’s Hillbilly Cousins.

“Umm… Ok….” Is what your mind is probably screaming right now. But it seemed like an incredibly great and yet still Disney thing to do. There are a few advantages to this outfit. It will fit easily into a carry bag to take with us to change into right before getting to the MK for MNSSHP. We won’t be too hot or have our vision complicated at all. We can still ride rides easily enough. And… Last but not least, we can remove it very easily if we find that you all have been teasing us about adults dressing up. So here is our basic costume. Yes, we found 4 of these. We will fight over teeth, who gets which ones. The only thing we do not have yet is the orangish t-shirts. We want our spots to pop out. Like we won’t be obvious anyway right? We plan to wear our orangish tees to the Aloha Spirit and just look like a normal matching t-shirt Disney family. :rotfl2:

Now let me bore you with a little background music talk. We had planned to do this trip and then a couple of friends of ours Teewee and CP said they had to do Disney with us. :dance3: So we all booked and got the ADR’s planned and all the activities according to what everyone wanted. Not an easy job I must say. Those of you that plan these huge gatherings, my hat is off to you! Kudos!:woohoo:

It wasn’t long after that when my nephews that went on the cruise with us and also were with me all those years when I lived in Florida and made weekend World trips twice a month, said they wanted to come at least for my son’s birthday. So they would come for MNSSHP. So we had ideas as we wanted a group costume party. We actually loved the Alice in Wonderland theme or we were thinking along the lines of Snow White and the 7 dwarfs (making one of the boys snow white of course) or the Wizard of Oz.

Then my aunt and uncle who live in Florida said they would come down for the Halloween party as well. So we went from 4 to 6 to 8 to 10. Then CP & Teewee’s son said he would come from college as well. 11 now. So what happened you might ask… or not, but you know I am going to tell you anyway so play along now.:teacher:

Teewee and CP decided to make life choices that would involve surgeries.:thumbsup2 One of them will still be in recovery and so this made the trip not work for them. So of course, their son won’t be there as well. :sad1: Back down to 8. Then one nephew went to Africa over the summer and money was tight so he and his brother decided not to come. 6. Then my aunt’s mother in law passed and her father in law is not well so they cancelled. Back to 4 of us.

So of course we were sad to lose our great group of followers, (playing Pied Piper flute music in my head now), but we vowed to do a great trip report so they could all follow along like they were with us. :grouphug:

I almost forgot, there was a purpose to you needing to know all of that information. Some of the above groups are not Dis familiars. I know, shock! :scared1: How could they not be, right? So they had internet predator’s phobia (IPP). So for those adult guests who thought that their boss might find them smiling or that someone on the Dis would want to stalk them and what? Steal their Disney souvenirs’? To keep everyone happy AND to do a trip report, we did what any IPP supporter would do… we created a mascot. And because we fell so in love with him, and in case anyone decided to join us last minute and change all of our plans once again, we kept him.

I love it! Those costumes are going to be so funny! :rotfl: I'm sure you'll have a lot of admirers. I can't wait to see pics from your trip.

It's a shame all those people had to cancel, but a mascot is a great idea! It will make for a lot of great photo ops along the way, I'm sure.

Well I couldn't get orangish shirts so we got very bright colored t-shirts that will clash well with the ties/hats.

Our mascot will be a hilarious touch on it! We have been "speaking" in his voice for a while thinking of how he will sound. We plan to fade away and let him have the show to himself!

Susan,

Here's a first-hand wetsuit experience from a poohsized gal (size 18) and her XXL DH. We did dolphins in depth last oct which required the dreaded wetsuit. Somehow they magically know what size wetsuit you'll need - and they did manage to get it right - although DH needed bigger booties/watershoes. I didn't hose off before getting into the suit since I didn't want to be wet during the non-water part of the tour. They made us wear them well before we got in the water with the dolphins. I just put on my bathing suit and danced around a bit to get into it. Don't worry, the skinny girls on the tour had to do a similar amount of dancing. Of course I looked horrible in it but, to be honest, they didn't seem to flatter anyone in our group. Our picture was in the water with the dolphin so you pretty much only see me from the shoulders up, which worked out wonderfully.

Oh Stephanie that is wonderful news to me!! Ok... I think I can...I think I can. And i have seen many people (skinny) in them and they don't look quite as skinny when wearing one. :rotfl2: I am still not going to wear lime green in case...:lmao:

Moms, your PTR is absolutely fabulous! I will have to admit, I'm a little jealous of your trip to AKL. . .maybe when my kids are older (and dh and I can leave them behind--or maybe I can leave everyone behind?!?!?)

Oh don't be jealous, you can come along too!.... it just means you have future trips ahead of things to do. (I must say that solo trips or girls out alone trips do get me a little jealous) We might do our next Disney trip camping. :cool1: It is just the Disney experience that makes it so great. And one day I am going to go for Thanksgiving or Christmas now that the kids are older.

Great costumes!!! Your trip is coming up fast I bet you are getting excited...I know I am for my trips!

Oh my gosh. Your PreTrip Report makes me laugh:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: rolling on the floor laughing.:rotfl: :rotfl: I love the costumes. Great idea  We go to MNSSHP on the Friday night that we arrive and I don't have plans to dress up but that would be really easy to do.

I wanted to do the Illumination Cruise so bad, but I got voted down. :headache: I think that would be so cool. Illuminations is my favorite show. Did you know that the Glode won't be there, it's in for refurbishment, although its due back out by maybe the start of the Wine & Food Festival. My DH was telling me this. I'm not real sure of all the details.

One day I want to visit Charlotte, North Carolina, really more Raliegh. I have a cousin that lives there, she works for Glaxo. I always tell my DH that I want to move to North Carolina and of course he wants to move to Orlando, DisneyWorld.

Looking forward to hearing more about your trip.

When we were deciding what type of mascot we would take with us we all brought some character or another to the stage for viewing and discussing.

There was Thumper who is never really brought into the limelight enough and was a very fun character and so cute and full of laughter.

Next in line was safari Koala made with our very own hands at a build a bear. Since we were going on a safari and since we were staying at the animal kingdom… well it could work. BTW.. he took off his safari clothes in honor of HSM... He does own them!

Next up was a little penguin. I know, there are no penguins at the Animal Kingdom. But think of how cute of a “chilling tale” he could tell if we just let him at it!

And we thought of Tink herself… she would surely point out things in the park that many would miss simply because of her size. But have you heard her talk? Ok… try to write in her voice. Easier said than done.

So that brought us to a most unusual idea. Tunda.
DSCN2708.jpg

It all started last Christmas… One of our most precious family gifts was an adoption of a gorilla from the Dallas Zoo. Adopt An Animal

Mary’s niece and her sidekick got everyone in the family a different animal. We all got little beanie babies and certificates etc. We loved this gift and were very excited about it actually.

So when all the contestants were on the stage and all of them left us wanting just a little bit more… we had to do a bit more thinking. One thing led to another as we decided an animal, even if not Disneyish, would be our best bet.

So we pulled Tunda out onto the stage and he just came to life for us. We found his voice very easily and his primitive manners will add just the right amount of flair to this report. Remember, the whole trip report will be done in his voice and we will fade away into the background. We then changed his name to Tunda and welcomed him into our story.

Our next step was to decide all the things we would or would not love him in. We decided he would be appropriate for every single part of our trip. He did a photo shoot to make sure he was photogenic and packed his little bag. He is now truly a part of our family and he is planning on taking the Animal Kingdom Lodge hostage for those few days we are there. :lovestruc

Howdy there Texas Belle!

If you come to Charlotte you should give me a shout! I love North Carolina and although I didn't live in Orlando, I did live 2.5 hours from Disney and don't miss that too much. It was sooooo hot!

I think you should dress up as something easy. There were some ideas on here... I liked the survivor thing... I think it starts back up that week by the way. No i didn't know that the world would not be there. :sad2:

Anyway, glad you are enjoying my report. :cool1: :cool1:

Tickled PINK to be here! :)

The costume ideas are great, aren't they? I love the idea of dressing like Survivors - talk about a simple costume! :rotfl:

How are you doing with all the Hurricane activity in your neck of the woods?

I know you are wondering what has come up to cause this breakthrough in my regular programming...

Fear.....

Not fear of the Hurricanes. I do have fear of them and hope they do not cause such life changing damages as others have. I do not fear my trip is in jeopardy as I read on someones report...If you have to go through one, you may as well do it at Disney as anywhere else....or something like that.

Fear of making the wrong ADR's or scheduling too much in one day. Not too much of that. It will all happen as it should and I can always call and cancel things if I need to.

Fear of no one reading my report. Umm... although I probably should, I don't really have that either. They either read or don't. We are actually printing the posts and binding it along with our trip report and food report that we do as a way of journaling our trip. So it is as much for us as for anyone who can bear to read through it.

So my biggest fear outside of the mother fears we all seem to gain when that person leaves us and comes into the world, is ............SNAKES.

So this morning I was meditating a little and looking outside. I have been having a really hard time at work right now and I was taking a moment to find my gratitudes. That helps me to see the world in a brighter light.

All of a sudden, from the corner of my eye I see something. I look over in my roses and see a SNAKE> :scared1: . I Froze. So did the snake. He must have seen me as well. So my mind is racing with wondering what I should do. Do I think he is poisoness? Should I call my neighbor?

I don't want to leave the window and lose sight of this guy either. So I just keep watching him. Then something magical happened.....:wizard:

My stare, or glare i guess, turned this guy into a HOSE! :lmao:

Now, I don't plan to share this with just everyone. But I was soooooo worried about this dang snake.....Ok... I guess that does prove that worrying doesn't change anything....or maybe it proves if you stare at a snake it will turn into a hose?????? Oh gosh.

So I am adding to my list of gratitude......

No snake in my garden, only hoses.

Oh how funny. :rotfl: :rotfl:

That would be something that I would freak out about also.

2 more weeks.

I am very glad to hear that I am not alone in my hosefears.:rotfl2: Then I was afraid to walk outside the rest of the day...why...did I really think that a hose would come out and soak me? Geez...

2 more weeks!!!! I am going to try to do a live report. LOL
