Plastic bags in Disneyland

This might be a bit of an odd question. Last time we went to Disneyland, we ended up with a lot of plastic bags (which have been very handy, I'm not complaining). I'm wondering if they might have done something to reduce the number of plastic bags they use, such as having calico or some other multi reusable bags available for purchase that you can add to your purchase for little cost.

There are (cute) reusable shopping bags available for purchase at most shops in the resort (DL, DCA, DTD, hotels). Usually, we see these at the registers. The bags come in different sizes. They are not expensive. The ones in SWGE are very nice looking and make great gifts (they pack flat!).

As theluckyrabbit said, Disney does sell reusuable bags in the parks. There are specialty/seasonal ones, but each park plus DTD and the hotels have their own design (four designs in total) and those come in three different sizes. SW:GE also has a bag, but it only comes in one size.
Here's a link to the Parks Blog post with the original information (the prices have since gone up a little).

Do they still have plastic bags?
Are they still free or cost something?

I’ll get some „reusable“ ones as well... (great cheap souvenir) but since I hardly reuse them at all they just pile up... so I like getting plastic ones I reuse over and over...

They still have the regular plastic bags. Some CMs will automatically put things in a bag, others will ask if you want a bag, and some will wait until the guest requests a plastic bag.

That's been our experience too, although I have to laugh when I'm buying 6 or 7 or 8 items at Trolley Treats and they ask if I need a bag.:scratchin

Thank you - they're exactly what I was hoping they'd have. :)

If you purchase something and ask for a bag, you'll get a plastic bag with the parks design on it. If you just need a plastic bag and don't purchase anything, you'll receive a clear plastic bag with the Disney Parks logo on it. The clear plastic bags only come in one size, large. No charge for either kind of bag.

Things are still the same as described in this thread. They have reusable bags available for purchase at the registers and there are different designs in different parts of the resort. If you want a "single use" plastic bag they still have those available as well.

Recently more castmembers have been asking if we want a bag so you could say no. I carry a couple of fabric bags in my purse that fold up into a small size (2 inches x 3 inches) that I use.

I wish they'd just use composable bags and paper... I neither want single use plastic (we do reuse them once we're at home actually) or a zillion reusable bags. We have enough of those too. I keep one folded up in the laptop sleeve section of my backpack just in case I want something that doesn't quite fit in the main compartment. Most things we purchase come wrapped in plastic anyway, so its kind of a lost cause until companies get serious about the waste they choose. Whatever did we do in the days before cellophane and windows on boxes?

I tend to do all my shopping at one time from store to store. I just get a big bag at the first store then ask the CMs in the other stores to put my purchases in that bag. They never have a problem doing that and I normally end up with just the one bag.
