Plans have been filed for DVC expansion at Caribbean Beach Resort

So what you're giving is a scientific explanation (thank you) to why this app shows ZERO intention to build a connector to anything...even with that "deluxe location"

Now back to regular programming

Hey, I'm on board now that it isn't happening - I've only been arguing that they COULD do it, not that they are going to.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you saying on demand underwater bus service?!

Trying to not get too excited and cash in my 401k now. But man would it be worth the tax hit for this.

Okay, now that people have calmed down, come to there senses, and actually had a reality check I can post again hopefully not be unjustifiably and wrongly mocked for pointing out the obvious. As I said before:

No tunnel, no new gate. All it takes is a back hoe or 2 and a small bridge. It may not be a boat but some sort of direct access for sure.

I think a boat connection is most likely; but, it could be any number of things. I think the point is, connecting would be way to easier than people want to admit and there are any number of options to link the resort with the parks that will work. If people keep exaggerating the cost of such a simple project it's going to be cheaper to just put in a new monorail :stir:.

The prime location of CBR was too much to be ignored. They don't build moderate DVC's and you don't have a deluxe DVC without direct access to the park. I will say I told you so, but I won't gloat too long because I thought it was going to be a boat. I like this gondola idea better, it has far superior access to DHS than the boat ever could. The most ironic thing is extending the Friendship boat run still was the cheaper and easier plan but they went with the more expensive and complicated gondola idea because of the bigger upside. Give credit where it's due. I like the idea.

I'm with you completely until the part where the friendship boat is cheaper. Elevation is the problem. All of the potential locations are at different heights, i'm going to wager more than 20 feet.

This post otherwise is right on.

Credit where it is due.

You were right......ish :)

Still closer than I was. Never pictured gondolas. I can see how having a load station at the CBR tower will help in the sales room. I guess we are getting a deluxe as you said. I still don't believe it. But like a lot of recent events, not believing doesn't make it not true.

The problem with trying to call Pop a "moderate" because of park access is it still has thousands of tiny rooms. Even calling CBR a "deluxe" of any form is not realistic. It's barely moderate in some ways.

I'm sure we're all reading the same forums, but... it does seem like the insiders are confirming a stop at Pop / AoA. Also, WDW1974 said that Disney has been planning to drop the 'value', 'moderate' and 'deluxe' categories for resorts in favor of charging by the area.

Assuming the map is correct, does Art of Animation then get upgraded over time away from a value resort? No other value resort would have that kind of transportation link unless you count Fort Wilderness, which is kind of a different animal. I've never been in Art so I have no idea how much work would need to be done, but if it stays as a value, you have to believe it becomes a much sought after value resort and Pop Century and All-Star will certainly be deemed lacking, though All-Star obviously has a different draw with Wide World of Sports activities. You have to assume it would also hurt Port Orleans and Coronado Springs as moderates without direct unique transportation. Unless of course this is kind of a transportation stage 1. It will be interesting to watch.
They could charge an add on fee for value guests to use the skyway. Similar to the park to park option recently implemented.

No no, I totally agree, this is almost certainly happening. Its just funny that I think people generally rejected this in this thread.

Sorry my messaging is way off, I am super loaded up on cough medicine.

Where is Lockedout on this ?

Has he posted yet ?
Having followed the threads I didn't come to the same conclusion. This fits in with what I read as the consensus. The main difference is the method of connection to the parks.

Construction permits indicate a cable-car/gondola aerial system being built to link CBR to DHS and Epcot.

Got it...

...this looks like an expansion of the internal transportation system. Which we have been pleading for since...1988.

This changes nothing about what Caribbean is: which is a motel. That will now be double the price.

I'll be watching what happens here just like the rest of you...but this isn't a "victory" for caribbean's value...it seems to indicate that with the star wars development, they are looking to expand their timeshare network around it and overload the place.

Switching the parking lot at studios (which is well underway this week when i passed it daily) now makes even more sense...reducing the flow on buena vista by pushing traffic to osceola.

Very interesting now...not good for WDW fans on any economic level...but interesting.

TOTS still applies.

I'm sorry, but what does TOTS stand for?

Trust only the shovels

Many, many, MANY plans at Disney have been scrapped for about a bazillion reasons...and many "insiders" have fueled the smoke on the internet to fires that honestly were never there.

This one about gondolas...however...is intriguing...because it's FEASIBLE.

Dredging a canal to the back of Epcot is not...

...I might have snuck over to a service area spot next to boardwalk and taken a peek or two last week ;)

Someone should ping @Madonna3 . She loves this thread - she'd want to know it's heating up.

Oh wait, I just did!:rolleyes1

I WAS ON VACATION AND I SAW THIS AND I WAS LIKE OMG!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK TO WORK!!

Please excuse me, while I go catch up on this.

However, we were all correct,

1. They would have to connect this SOMEHOW
2. It wouldn't be via water.

This appears to be an elevated closed circuit transit system that looks to be linking that area conveniently to studios and also looks to be something that can be expanded to animal kingdom, springs and beyond if successful and cheap...

It is not a dredged canal through the service areas or a foot bridge.

So yes...this doesn't validate any of the points that were discussed...this is different...and if you look at it logically...it's the shorter distances being tested that could expand both east and west from that axis.

Everyone know why it was called "Epcot center"?

Yep impressed with your input. :worship:

If this indeed happens it does show CBR is a prime location, and what some imagination can do.

That Tower looking into EPCOT with a continuous 3 min ride to EPCOT as well as a fireworks view, is a very close 2nd to me other than a walking bridge would have been. And also another short ride to DHS and Star Wars Land? Also the BW minutes away as well. Could be very interesting.
