I'm really excited about planning this so wanted to post what I've got planned so far (and maybe gets some tips/suggestions) This is so long so I apologise, but I wanted to get some of this out!

I'm fairly new to this board but long time lurker (and the format is different for me so bear with me) and thought I'd give our gang an intro.
I'm a divorced mom of 2 boys ages 6 and 8 (will be 7 and 9 come trip time) I work in a hospital and now that my youngest will be going to school full time next fall I'm going back to school to finish my degree in Nursing. I'm also a bellydancer as a hobby and have loads of fun with that (and yes I will be checking out Marrakesh in Epcot!) I also love yoga, cross stitching, scrapbooking, polymer claying, and I have an obsession with the ocean/mermaids(hence the username, sorry Ursula ;)
DS1 (8) is my hyper social butterfly. He loves chatting people up and can keep right up with adults. He's also a 'fish' and loves swimming and anything involving getting wet. He loves anything involving skeletons, flames, and action! Right now he's into Spiderman, Ghost Rider, and Pirates OTC. He's rather hard to get into bed.
DS2 (6) is the total opposite, and is my dreamer/thinker. He loves looking thru books and has a fascination with volcanoes, tornados, and trains. Hes good at drawing and makes very elaborate sidewalk chalk railroads. He's my kid that doesn't get in trouble at school ;) He also loves swimming, but isn't as passionate as his 'dive in!' brother. He is so easy to get into bed that sometimes I find he's already tucked himself in!
My boys are total opposites, looks as well as mannerisms. They argue alot and other times get along fabulously so I guess they're typical brothers. They like the Pixar characters the most I'd say. They also are going to have to occasionally submit to my girlyness since I don't have a girl to play that out with. I'm lucky that I'm not that girly, I hate pink, and I love reptiles, probably why I ended up with boys ;) Funny story: I was buying some scrapbook stuff with tinkerbell on it (one says 'So not a princess' which is fitting for me) and DS1 says "Mom why are you buying that? Thats for girls!' I say "I'M a girl!' he says 'No your not, your a lady.'

Their dad and I get along fairly well, in fact we almost reconciled, but thats not happening at this point. We had talked about going to Disney the 4 of us,(Duh I know, but I just wanted to do the normal family thing) but ended up not going which I'm glad about now. Long story short is he tends to make what are supposed to be fun outings tense and stressfull so I want to leave him out of this trip and just enjoy my boys and have fun with them. Plus I was never big on the idea of traveling with my xhusband. I was worried about me going alone with them, but now I'm excited about it. I did alot of traveling on my own after the divorce (Egypt in '05 for 2 weeks, Jamaica just this past May for 4 days) So now I want my big trip with my boys :D

Okay, about the trip already!! This is the kids first time, I have been to disney twice, when I was 2 (don't remember) and 14 (was in that bratty 'nothing mom and dad does with us is cool' phase) The only parks I remember being in are MGM and Epcot so I will be seeing the others for the first time along with the boys. I'm planning on being gone a week, at the end of april. Was looking at early april, but heard it was on the tail of spring break so moved it. I'm avoiding DS2s bday on the 22nd, but this works out cause we'll be in Myrtle beach with family around DS1's bday in October, I don't want any fights or feeling left out because of it being someones birthday on either trip. Was going to do 4 days disney then Seaworld and Discovery cove, but I'm thinking thats going to be too much so we might just do Disney all 7 days and save the other parks for later trips (when disney isn't *cool* anymore ;) ) I'm also lazy and don't want to worry about getting to the other parks and I am *NOT* renting a car. Plus we'll have plenty of time to explore the parks and won't have to fret over 'missing anything' or feel rushed. Definetly park hopping ;) Want to stay on site, and think its between Pop Movies or French Quarter. I'd love to stay in FQ as I think the boys would love the pool (and I like the pictures of the grounds and that we can take boats and have shorter bus rides, and don't they have a couch bed in the rooms? Avoiding fights over bed sharing would be cool) but its going to depend on the almighty dollar ;) I've heard I can get cards that have 'disney dollars' on it for my boys for their spending money but need more info on that. Pin trading sounds like fun and I've been browsing ebay to get my boys started on some pins for when we go down there. I'm a dork and plan on doing it myself too ;) I'm considering the Dining plan as I think its a good deal for the 3 of us. We aren't huge eaters, but I do want to eat dinner somewhere nice a few times. We must do Coral Reef while at epcot ;) I think we should do O'Hanas or the luai for my volcano loving DS2 and my interaction loving DS1 (oh and pineapple loving me :D ) WCC sounds like fun too and I think my boys would love the all you can eat skillet (is that on DP?) and buckets of pop. I'd love to eat at Fultons Crab house in DTD, but I know its pricey (and not on the dining plan) so we'll have to see. DS2 loves crab legs and I want him to have some good ones at some point on our trip(so if they don't have kids crab or let me order some OOP at Coral reef we may have to try it) I hate seafood, love steak and my veggies and pasta, DS2 is picky at times but generally loves chicken and basic 'kid food', so we should all be happy at some point ;)
I am a tad worried about 2 seater rides with the 3 of us. DS1 wouldn't have a problem pairing up with another rider or going solo, but I don't know if they allow that. I think theres only a few rides we'd run into this with, but I want to know about it before hand.
We will definetly be flying in to Orlando and I plan on using the Magic Express, otherwise I'd probably be carrying tons of stuff myself. This will also be the kids 1st plane ride so they're excited about that too.
This sounds nuts but I've also thought of buying them pay as you go cell phones or fireflys in case we get separated in the parks. Anyone else do this?

Thats where we stand so far. I'll be paying for the bulk of the trip with my tax return so probably won't have it booked till Feb(which worries me some) But I'm hoping to at least book the rooms late this year and add the rest when I get my return.
I am sooo excited! I've been stocking up on disney scrapbooking stuff (especially the Jolee things, I love those!) The kids are going to get luggage and the little mini Disney digi cams, Cars for DS2 and POTC for DS1(and whatever pins I've collected for them) at Christmas. They know we're going 'next year', and I'm keeping it on the down low till things are more solid. I also don't want them talking to their dad about it. He does't know I'm planning this trip and I don't want him finding out about it till much later as I'm dreading the "I'm going alone with the boys" fallout. Hoping that he'll be like 'We'll I don't have the money anyways so have a good time!' and not be all mopey/pissy about it. He's perfectly welcome to take them by himself, but that will probably never happen. Doesn't stop my plans any, but is a worry I have to deal with. I mean, we are divorced, but I he has the power to make me feel bad for him even after all this time. I don't give into it anymore, but it still annoys me.
