Well, I was debating whether or not to write a pre-trip report. I wasn't sure if I wanted to expose my obsessive planning disorder and if anyone would actually want to read my ramblings. However, as I'm sitting at home on this Snow Day on the first day of Spring, I have nothing better to do. So here it goes!

Hello! My name is Jen. I've always wanted to participate in one of the RunDisney events. Unfortunately, my work schedule really limits me as to when I can take vacations. This year, the Wine and Dine Half Marathon just happened to fall on a week that I could take off from work! I was so excited when I found out. I texted my boyfriend to ask him if he could go that week. (We went to Disney World for our first vacation together in March 2014). He said it wasn't a good time for him because of hunting trips and work. I was disappointed but just figured we could go another year. Then I got an e-mail on Monday reminding me that registration was on Tuesday. I sent him a screenshot with a sad face. To make a long story short, he agreed to go AND run the half marathon too!!!! I almost dropped my phone because I was so shocked and excited.

I used Disboards when planning our last vacation so I got on here and found the Wine and Dine 2015 thread. I quickly gathered a bunch of useful information from the friendly running folk over there. They advised me to call and book a room on Tuesday morning before registration as the phone lines would likely be tied up afterwards.

I called RunDisney first thing Tuesday to inquire about different host hotels and park tickets. BF and I had agreed on a 3 Day park pass since we will be ending the race in Epcot and enjoying the after party there. Success! I felt like the deals were pretty good. I booked a room at Caribbean Beach for Nov. 3-8 and ended up going with a 3 Day park hopper.

I haven't booked the flights yet but I have my eye on the ones I want. I think I'll monitor them for the next few weeks and pounce when I think it's a good deal !

Although I can't make my ADR's or FP+ for a while, I have started planning out which ones I want and backups in case something goes wrong. More on that in my next post!

I just realized that I forgot to include the MAYHEM that was registering for the race!!

I nearly had a heart attack (at Age 27). I had my computer, ipad, personal phone and work phone all ready to go at 11:30. I had to register both myselfprincess: and Conor:firefight since he was at work. I planned to do them simultaneously on different devices to ensure that we both got in. I started refreshing pages like a mad woman. FINALLY it seemed as though they had opened up registration because the RunDisney page went white. I started freaking out because it was now 11:56 and I couldn't get ANYTHING to load!! I had texted my friend Sarah who is also Disney obsessed saying that I couldn't get it to load! In the meantime, I had gotten to the registration page on Active.com through my work phone and started my registration there. Then Sarah texted me back saying it was working on her phone and sent a link! Hallelujah! Whatever she sent me somehow *Magically* worked. :smickey:It put me in a queue for ~5 minutes which was fine because I was completing my registration on my other phone. Finally I got through and started filling out Conor's which felt like it took forever and by this point my hands were shaking and it was so hard to type! FINALLY I submitted them both at the same time and YAY! We BOTH got in!! I was so happy, especially after I found out later that the race sold out in 35 minutes!!

Anxiously awaiting the November park hours to be released so I can make my plans.
One thing we have decided: Dinner & Fireworks at California Grill ! Last year we did Kona and then watched the fireworks from the beach at Poly. Originally I had wanted to do the same thing this year.. but then I watched a YouTube video about California Grill ! So I think we will hit Kona for breakfast this year!
Other ADRs we want: SciFi, Yak & Yeti (most likely both for lunch before leaving the parks for our afternoon naps)

Hi, I'm following along! My husband and I will be there at the start of Wine & Dine, but definitely not running it! :rotfl2:

I highly recommend Kona for breakfast! We ate there back in September, and it was great. I had the Samoan and my husband had the macadamia (sp?) pancakes. I too am anxiously awaiting park hours! Then the planning can really begin!
